Mescaline extraction question: KOH instead of NaOH?

    I was wondering if KOH could be used instead of NaOH for the first step of a mescaline extraction since they're both strong bases. Anyone know?

    Sodium and Potassium have nearly identical chemisty and most of their salts are interchangable, adjusting for the extra mass of the K atom.

    KOH and NaOH work the same.
