Eho do you reackon will win the Mercury Music Prize? It'll probably be Franz Ferdianand but I'd rather see The Streets win.

to be honest I am not at all impressed with the finalists - I've heard of all of them!!! but yeah Franz will probably win, because NME absolutely love them...

Yeah thats the thing they are all well known. They should be new acts. Suppose FF are still quite new though and you can't really put them of the list just 'cos they've done well.

Who do you think should have been on it that wasn't there then?

Both are fantastic albums and all for different reasons.... Who else is up for it?

i think the streets...if they don't win then no-one should...stealing an entire decade of music and trying to pass it off as your own doesn't count as music...and certainly doesn't warrant an award

The Streets album is a work of art! It is just amazing! The first album was amazing too! I've seen them live twice (Glastonby 2003 and supporting Massive Attack) :) Mike Skinner is just brilliant... and Calvin is :) Just look at their current single 'Dry Your Eyes' not that is different from the other Streets song we have known and love :) What a GRAND band.. bloody amazing!

It never goes to who I think should win, so bare that in mind when I cast my vote for Franz Ferdinand, folks! "A Grand Don't Come For Free" is a great little album, but I kind of like debut album artists to do well with Mercury.

That's why I haven't even considered Belle & Sebastian, this is like what, their 5th 6th album? Plus I haven't heard it!

So aye, Franz it is. All new indie bands go into one pile for me. Bands like The Strokes and The Vines are still wallowing there now, but Franz have pulled themselves through. I think they're something to be slightly excited about, not much else new in the genre excites me as much.
