I used to think I had a problem with memory. Like I'd tell people even as a child, I'd go downstairs to the pantry and forget why I even went there. But now I think my problems may have been, and may still be, with attention.

I'm not a psychologist and I know neither are most of you. So I'm not trying to diagnose myself. But just generally speaking, what is the difference between memory and attention? I know the word attention comes up, like in illnesses like attention deficiet disorder. And people with dementia may have problems with both. I've noticed the first thing they seem to look for is what state their attention is still in.

Like I said, just a general definition. What do both terms mean medically? And how are they different?
