So i am a total new to meditation and the only technique i know is to focus only on breathing and trying to do nothing but just sit, what other newbie techniques are there. Where should i start?

I've read that inflicting pain upon the body is the best way of focusing. You focus all of your energy on the pain, and then eventually learn to do so without the pain.

They say that a simple knife can do. You just slowly insert it into your abdomen. Make sure not to hit any vital organs or anything (logically), but don't be afraid to draw some blood.

    Good luck.

i like having a thread about it here too. of course this is not the place to look for newbie advice about it, and i think "!" for directing the op, hopefully, presumably, someplace that would be useful to them.

meditiation IS something worth randomly thinking about though. a lot more and more interestingly so then human body parts, erotic obsession, and fixations on recreationally empared judgment.

image focusing, sitting in a way that the sitting itself causes no distractions, not even those of discomfort. i guess if you fall asleep that's no longer called meditation, but if you, even that way, still the inner dialog long enough to get even just a glimpse of thinking clearly, personally i feel like that's a pretty good and useful thing.

there's also a kind of meditative state you can be in while you go about doing things, if no distracts you out of it. that's one of the reasons i kind of enjoy living by myself when i can.
