I've been wanting to move to the west coast (lots of these topics eh). Medford caught my eye when i was traveling down the coast many years ago and then into napa.

Anyone have info on this town, specifically rental costs, cost of living etc?

Medford eh? I've lived here for 12+ years, and it's alright. It doesn't cost too much to live here (a friend of mine just got a nice 2 bedroom apartment for a pretty damn good deal), but the town itself isn't the coolest around. That's alright though, because Ashland is only a 20 minute drive away and it's an awesome hippie town. There are a lot of beautiful areas just outside of Medford too, which is nice.

Also, we used to have a huge meth problem here (and we still do to a degree), so Medford has been lovingly re-dubbed Methford :p

Feel free to PM me with any other questions!

ah ha, my favorite part of methford is "Food for Less" what a great store. definitely a lot of tweakers around there... ummm lots of cool spots around it though too.. Medford is probably a lot cheaper to live in than the nice towns around it.

Ashland's much hipper than Deadford. I second the comment above.

It's rather sad to see Medford acquire such a terrible meth reputation over the years. It's true though. I'd say it's finally coming around and becoming something enjoyable now that more businesses have returned to downtown, and they are remodeling the whole area with the help of the Lithia Corporation. I think it's been a crappy town for many years but it has certainly come a long way. It's got potential. I personally love the Medford area and the Bear Creek and Rogue Valleys. Such neat places to hike and explore all over the place. Even if you get tired of Medford, there is Ashland which is near by and it's a great hippie town. Jacksonville is also close by and it's a very cool historic gold mining town with a lot of rich history.

I used to be in a band, we lived on Spring Street and rehearsed at the Holly Theater, in the back .... way back in 1992, before they restored the Holly Theater
