I'm a veggie but i did like the taste of meat when i ate it and i think that deep down most of you feel the same way. I know it doesnt make killing animals for own indulgences but as a 'convert' still in the early stages i do miss the occasional bacon double cheeseburger
Dude whenever i see KFC commercials, esp. for spicy wings, i'm like ohhhh maaaan i miss those soooo much, but i know it's not worth eating that shit fucks with you.
No. Meat's disgusting. I mean, it's so fatty and full of Cholestorol...EEWW, the The fatty-ness of meat , the greaseyness, ick.
If I actually craved meat I would have a really hard time keeping up my vegetarian diet. I just decided that I didn't want to eat animals about a yearish or so ago and it's never interested me since...
i've been veggie 22 years about..& meat absolutely disgusts me.. i accidently atte it twice, & it tasted disgusting & made me feel completely toxic in the 1st year or 2 i did crave certain meats, but it was all conditioning from eatting it so ong, the cravings passed, & now that theyre gone even the thought of it turns my stomach & makes me neaseuse. ewwwwwwww i feel sick now just cause u brought it up dont worry, in time the cravings will pass & you'll no longer even think of mea as being food.. only a dead rotting corpse of a once beautiful lving creature
If I like it then why don't I crave it? I nearly puked when I got a taste of shrimp salad a few months back. Frankly without the spices, marinades and special sauces, meat seems bland and I can get all the flavor I'll ever need from just a few East Indian recipes.
i truly never really enjoyed the taste of meat. aside from being brought up on it, the only reason i think i ever ate it is because i didnt research other choices, and never took the time to modify entrees when eating out or whatever... as soon as i did enough research and built up enough courage to not be afraid to ask waiters and what not, to modify things... there was no turning back, and i never missed it.
Moste meat tastes pretty bland anyway. It's only the heavy flavourings and seasonings that make meat dishes appealing, imho.
maybe i just got lucky growing up, but all the shit my mother cooked (SHITTY cook) she made meat feel like the "aw god, i "know" i need meat, but hell, this is SO bland and shitty, ill eat half of it, and eat the other bland plain potatos and plain green beans... cuz thats all we have... even at thanksgiving at relatives houses, i remember i always went for the stuffing and potatoes FIRST, and took VERY little turkey only cuz i felt like i had to... and never even finished the 1 small slice normally... btw, no one i ever knew cooked the stuffing in the turkey, to it was still omni stuffing... and even when at friends houses, cooking a plain freaking steak, all the time, i mean, what the hell? even I thought PLAIN meat was about as yummy as dirt! but maybe again, thats one reason im vegan today, cuz meat itself was plain freakin GROSS!
and when soaringeagle mentioned the urges go away, in whatever words he said... so true... i didnt think i ate much sugar but when i TOTALLY cut it out for my two week detox, the first five days were actually really tough and i didnt expect them to be. and i dont even like white flour/sugar/etc.... and it does go away. meat is the same. cigs. are the same.... (yes, that is a diff. subject, but some how in my mind right now, it is tying in)
I stayed veggie for 3 months and broke the chain because i was craving those cheap sausage rolls you get at parties. After i ate them i felt so guilty and disgusted, and then i managed to stick to the veg diet and have done for 4 years without wanting to taste meat again. I cant believe i wanted to put that stuff into my body so badly. It sickens me now...jus thinkin about it:S Xx
I agree. My point wasn't that the flavour of veggies is superior to meat - rather that both depend on flavourings (with exceptions) so there's nothing inherent that makes meat taste great.
