Is anyone into them? I love this band. Curt Kirkwood is one of the most underrated guitarists in rock and roll. They're a great blend of psychedelic rock, punk attitude and western twang. My favorite album is Up on the Sun. What do you think? Also, did anyone ever hear what happened with Chris Kirkwood? Did he reappear? Dead?

Cool, i'm not alone in here. Have you ever gotten to see them live? I saw a band called Meat Puppets once, but it doesn't really count. It was an all new band that Curt Kirkwood put together after the original bass player disappeared and drummer decided to start doing wierd pop music.

For you Nirvana fans out there, you should know that this band was on of Kurt Cobain's biggest influences. Check em out, especially their older stuff.

Meat Puppets 2 is all good, the rest I like songs here and there.....they had some recognition on an underground level in the 80's...then some mediocre alt. hits in the 90's.

So one of them disappeared?! I hadn't heard about that.

I really like them. I got into them when Too High to Die came out, and then they were with Nirvana for a few songs of the unplugged show.

I knew they split, but not that one of them disappeared.

Yeah, the bass player Chris Kirkwood disappeared. I think because of heroine. But i have no idea if he ever reappeared. I do know that his brother Curt publically gave up on him a couple of years ago and started playing out again as the Meat Puppets, but it was a completely different band.

I agree Seamonster66, Meat Puppets 2, along with Up on the Sun which came out right after that, are their best works. Kind of got a little over produced after that. But there are elements of greatness in all their albums. Forbidden Places (1991) is a good later album.

Blindhobosam - for songs you should check out Split Myself in Two, New Gods, Oh me, anything from the Up on the Sun cd, Sam, Open Wide, Popskull, Violet Eyes, Severed Goddess Hand, ... most of the songs are short so check out as many as you can.

A side note, if you like MP then Eyes Adrift, a one album project with Curt Kirkwood, Chris Novoselic (Nirvana), and Bud Gaugh (Sublime), is worth checking out.
