The meat pie is ubiquitous in Australia. I have bought meat pie in Manly some years ago and it was more expensive than what you normally pay but was worth it. A meat pie is potentially good but most times is not, I even prefer a burger from the golden arches than most meat pies.
Love meat pies although I have to say,if I bite into anything that resembles gristle,it would put me off big time.Love meat pies,in a paper bag at the footy or a pasty with sauce!Yum!
Meat Pies Are Messy And Nasty, There Is No Way Known To Mankind To Eat One Without Wearing Half Of It On Your Chest......... Burgers However Are Eaten Usually In A Position Where As Only The Occasional Sauce Drips On Your Personage...... :chef: Cheers Glen.
I have a question about australian burgers - There used to be this little restaurant in my town owned by an australian family and the burgers were out of this world. Ive never had a burger before or since that was as good. Their fries too...you could let their fries sit out for hours and they would still taste amazing which of course completely defies the laws of fry physics. Leftover fries are never good..except at this place. So my question is, is this the norm for australian burgers or did this guy just have an unusually good recipe?
When I think meat pie I'm thinking of this: https://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=2228666
They clearly knew what they were doing. As a former chef, I can tell you to make good fries you need a good hard fat like dripping or coconut oil.
I find the beef in australia always much better than anywhere in the world. Though i doubt he would have imported from aus, fries probably coated in beer batter. Not really much of a hamburger fan. Theres a chain here Mad Mex that does a chicken nachos worth killing for
When I was in Sydney last, I found meat pies at the bakery in the same street as the Centrelink office in Campbelltown worth eating. The worst thing about all the big fast food chains in Australia is the awful canola oil they use.
Discovered A New Frozen Pie In The Supermarket A Few Days Ago......Australian Angus Beef...... Bacon......Beans......And Tacho's....... Mmmmmm ....... Cheers Glen.
That pie shop half way up The Corso in Manly? That's still there, I was there....errrr last november. Had lunch, really good pies
But I'd go for a really good sausage roll over both When they make the filling a touch spicy, and the pasty soft not flaky Mmmmm
