So my friend and I took MDMA on thursday, and while she rolled pretty damn hard I just didn't feel it like I usually do even though I took a bigger dose then her. I´ve taken MDMA or E about 6 times more often than here, always with about 2 months between rolling. It always felt great, but the last 2 times I felt a little less... But also the last to times I had taken LSD one day before, and the other time shrooms one day before; could that have something to do with not feeling as much as usual too? Only my friend had also taken shrooms the day before but she still felt more than me. I mean, I did feel the mdma, but the euphoria was much less extreme, and I almost felt more of some kind of anxiety during the roll. What I was thinking, is that I´ve already used MDMA so often that I suffer from mdma serotonin depletion!? I´ve probably used it more than 10 times. I´m going to a festival in 2 weeks; I should probably not even think about using MDMA or E... Any thoughts!?
Diminishing returns is an unfortunate phenomena for many people who use MDMA. There may be some cross tolerance with the acid and shrooms as well. I've used MDMA quite a bit, significantly more than 10 times, the Serotonin depletion referred to is generally an acute effect of MDMA which causes the day or two after depression. These effects have evidence that suggests its not permanent. You probably have to up your dose to regain some of the magic.
^^^ since your first good roll, have you ever had trips better than or equal to your first? i know you're very conscious about frequency, just curious if it's been a "never ever be like the first time" thing for you or if its consistently quality, all things aside.
I've actually rolled a bit more often than I normal do this past year, probably 4-6 times since winter. I've gotten really good quality crystal as well as differing amazing euro presses dosed around 150-190mg per. Usually I'll dose around 200mg of crystal or 1 press to start off. About two months ago I started with one press I had gotten that were particularly strong, and while it felt good, it was as OP described, I felt I should have gotten more. Two weekends ago I rolled again and dropped a whole press as well as an extra quarter of a press, so an increase of approximately 40-50mg and WOW! Come up was actually flooring and I rolled extremely hard and deliciously So can totally vouch for GB recommending to simply up the dose, after a couple month break of course, as this truly is the only way to "regain the magic". Dose uppage works, but don't use it as a way to roll just as hard on a more frequent basis. Oh and Voyage I know you were asking GB but I'll chime in, for me personally rolling isn't necessarily any less intense than my first time(s), but it's just a different reaction, like sort of getting "used" to anything else IE acid, I still trip just as hard more or less, but I've "been there" so to say. Not to say it's any less magical, just that that door has long since been blown wide open, if that makes sense.
can you satisfy your hunger? there was a video posted on these forums (in other thread) saying that serotonin depletion makes you wanna eat even when you are full. low serotonin people develop eating disorders. this happens after mdma use too. I know because i just got one. hehe. I took too much. now food gives me no satisfaction. it will go away when my body replaces the used up chemicals. its like a warning. dont take more E.
It's been consistently quality. My first roll while memorable, was not my best MDMA experience. RiversClearwater's point about getting accustomed to the effects reflects my experience as well. I wouldn't say I've lost the magic but it does seem that setting has become more imperative. I felt like the first several rolls I could be completely blissful, content and at peace in almost any setting, now I'm more selective to where I give in to the experience. The synergy between MDMA and music gets me everytime though and I still roll just as hard with some quality music and company as I ever did.
