Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials Movie Blurb by Shale September 19, 2015 This is the continuation of the Young Adult Adventure trilogy which came out last September with The Maze Runner. (the final sequel currently slated for Feb 2017). In that movie they were actually in a maze and managed, with Thomas' (Dylan O'Brien) leadership to escape. If you didn't see that movie here is a little info: http://www.hipforums.com/forum/topic/462997-the-maze-runner/ As you know when they were rescued from the maze all the scientists who were studying them were killed in the chaos. But it was revealed that the main villain Ava Paige (Patricia Clarkson) leader of W.C.K.D (an acronym for the organization that experiments on kids and pronounced "wicked.) actually were alive. Outside the facility that was running the maze we saw that it was a hostile desert as the rescuer's choppers took the remaining kids away. Besides Thomas, was the second in command, Newt (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), Winston (Alexander Flores), Minho (Ki Hong Lee), Frypan (Dexter Darden) and the only girl Teresa Agnes (Kaya Scodelario), This movie opens as they are landing at another large fortified building being attacked by something as they are spirited inside. There, they meet Mr. Janson (Aidan Gillen) the guy running the place which has other kids rescued from other mazes. Group Rescued Thomas is always wary and when he encounters another young man Aris Jones (Jacob Lofland) who's been there a while and shows him a secret locked part of the facility where bodies are being wheeled in, he starts snooping and finds the young ppl are part of an experiment being done by Ava Paige. Which means they have to get out of this place just like they did the maze. Group Escaping Again They do escape into a hostile world, with desert dust storms, creatures that can infect them if bitten and being pursued by the well-armed forces from WCKD. The rest of the movie is filled with these action scenes, battles and meeting bizarre ppl amid the ruins of once large cities. There are moments of capture and escape and the occasional death of a beloved character. Also, a little backstory explaining why Thomas and Teresa seem to know more than the others. Ultimately tho, there is a moment of some closure as what remains of a beaten resistance movement that plans to follow Thomas into a battle to stop WCKD and kill that bitch Ava (Thomas' words). Group Ready for More Battles in Final Sequel This movie was not too well received by the aggregate critics on Rotten Tomatoes who gave it a rating of 49% fresh but 69% of audiences liked it, as did I. The criticisms were for the narrative and character development but I doubt that many young adults will catch any of that, just interested in the cute young adults surmounting a dystopian world of near future.
