my friend is trying to convince me to go see matisyahu in jersey in a couple weeks. i'm not so sure about it - i know it's reggae, but has anyone seen him live before? is it real heavy on the 'jewish' thing (for lack of a better term!) i was just lookin at his list of songs, and they're real religious seeming, but i don't wanna jump to conclusions. so i ask this: does he put on a good show?
I was going to see him...it sold out There are religious messeges, but the music is good nonetheless.
don't get me wrong - this is reggae after all; i was just unsure how much reggae it was versus solely religious music. thanks for the reply.
he has downloads on the site. It is weird how he does not look at the audience while focusing (I call it the scared rabbi look) because he is embarassed by (epecially) women not in modeast clothing. He also will not shake a woman's hand. As a Chabad Lubavitch hassid, he has lots of restrictions from his rabbis, and I give him props that he can do it. I fall short a lot. (I'm also Chabadnik)
i'm a jew! i like jews. i just don't often prefer jewish music. mama - that's quite interesting. i'm sure it'd be a trip to see the dynamics with him on stage. mama, did you go to the rainbow gathering this past summer? there was a dude who performed at the talent show - a heady hassidic. it was great. all about dudes sellin drugs outta his corner bodega.
I saw him a year ago on a whim after seeing him on Jimmy Kimmel. He played at a real small club. Now is going to be playing in Chicago at a pretty big theater. I am so happy he is getting a good following! He is great! The show I saw was fantastic. He tells stories and talks to the audience. There is a religious message but it is definitely not preachy. Plus he does a killer beat box Have fun!!
If I could get someone to go with me I would be seeing him in philly. His music has a very religious purpose, but if you like it you like it. Have you heard him at all?
absolutely spiritually mindblowing. im not a hacidic jewish man, im not THAT into reggae, and he had my chakras wide, physical eyes closed and feet moving. sold out detroit show, thank something i never pay for shit.. guestlist woot!
