It's just that the mind interprets mirror symmetry differently. For instance, when you use a mirror to shave, you are actually seeing the exact opposite (left hand / right hand), but your mind accepts this to be the right way round. If, however, you were to try shaving using 2 mirrors or by monitoring yourself via a cam it would suddenly feel weird because your right hand would actually be controlling your right hand, which is not what you're used to.
