I started Muay Thai more than a year ago and it's become an obsession, in a sort of scary way. My life sort of revolves around me going to train, the same for most of the students I train with. Who else here does martial arts? Did you get addicted? Do you think this can be counter-productive? Another thing - I always had immense respect for martial artists, even though I didn't practice them until recently, but it seems that very few of my friends have the same opinion. They are all pacifists, and view fighting as animalistic and crude. I'm a pacifist, too (I've never been in a real fight), but I still think Karate, Muay Thai, Jui Jitsu etc is friggin awesome and I have a lot of pride that I'm into it.
1) very few people are actually that good. 2) it's not the actual fighting that's faggy, but rather the martial arts culture. in actual practice, it's generally used as a gay-looking form of aerobic exercise that kids constantly brag about and then never use. and then you get a yellow belt to wear. honestly, i know very little about it. i just know that every single person i've met who thought he was cool because of his martial arts skills also happened to be excessively faggy. so maybe it's not that martial arts is faggy, but just that it attracts faggy people.
it's hard to define in words. just watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqY03NW5cNE"]YouTube - karate sure, those are some great athletic moves. but they have absolutely nothing to do with beating the shit out of anyone, and everyone in the video just looks unbelievably gay. how do you disagree with "it" or "that?"
There's a range really close to me. Much easier riding a bike with bow on back than going through all the drama to get my rifle to the gun range. They make that very difficult around these parts.
they are the same.. it's all "art of war" a fighting style doesn't have to have originated in the orient to be considered an art
That isn't Karate at all. That's a mix of Capoeira and acrobatics. Watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yPfukurJdw"]Youtube - Muay Thai
At the last /blot/ I went to I tried Viking shield and sword. XD You use more shield than you do blade. It's like one swing one kill. The rest is all dirty tactics and shield/body attacks.
If you want to take a gn out here it needs to be contained in a "transportable gun safe" that's bolted in the boot of your car. I could always risk it but it's heavy massive fines + jail time here if you're caught.
