Who would actually be that stupid? I mean actually volunteer to be launched into space, never to return?

Can you imagine the 'reality check' the astronaut will experience when that ship is fired up and he/she has reached the point of no return? OMG...

So you'd launch yourself into space knowing you will die?

    Two questions for you.

    1. Why would you do it?

    2. Are you male or female?

Fascinating. The prospect is NOT stupid or suicidal - it just takes a special type of person. It is 100% comparable to various peoples' at various places in various locations on Earth launching from land or islands not knowing where they would wind up or if they would fall off the end of the world. Oftentimes after the first exploration is successful, COLONISTS follow. Colonists seldom ever plan on returning home.

Remember Ray Bradbury told us (& he was right of course) that The Martians are Us!

You don't get it. The first mission will fail. They will learn from that and send other missions until it works. You would have to be a prize c**t to test the first mission.

If you'd like you can come to my city and we can have this discussion in person. I'd be just as willing then to go to Mars and not return. If you really don't believe me perhaps you could offer to pay for my way there. ;)

None taken. Though I've talked to you many times during which you referred to me as "man".

The same shit I do on Earth. Walk around. I assume I'd be provided with some sort of vehicle in which I could get around.

    Other than that nothing really.
