for my good friend subgoin i thought this interpretation was interesting but i will add a few more. its a lengthy read but contains alot of interesting stuff if anyone would like a post similar to this just pm me. not to say that you cant find this stuff yourself but its a hobby of mine and im more than happy to do the research for you Mars has difficulty functioning here on the natives behalf unless it is received. Although hellenistic sources did not consider detriment, Mars is said to be in detriment here according to medieval sources. In any case, because Mars is not liked by Venus, it has a difficult time when in this sign. Mars nature is forceful and direct, but Venus is tactful and refined. As a result, the native may be slowed down by obstacles and limitations, causing them to be slow to act. There is likely to be considerable frustration because Venus is slow to respond to Mars requests. These two planets have much to do with sexual relations, but with Mars placed in this setting there can be jeolousy, stubbornness, power and mind games. In a diurnal chart, Mars becomes even more difficult to control as the appetites are only amplified. The native is especially willful against considerable opposition. For women, there is often difficulty in relationships with men, because to women it appears that men are unwilling to change and will not consider other possibilities. Men with this position often feel like nothing they do will matter, that they are continually banging their head against a wall. Venus or Jupiter witnessing Mars here will help make things more pleasant. In a nocturnal chart, the cold and moist of night alleviate some of the frustration of the natives actions. Mars becomes more placid and controled and the actions are more considered and thoughtful. As a result, relations with the opposite sex are better for these natives than their diurnal counterparts. There may also be talent in art or music, though there will be greater difficulty in all of these things if Saturn happens to be copresent or witnessing from one of the solid/fixed signs _______________________________________________________________ "Slow and steady wins the race" could easily be a motto for Mars in Taurus. These goal-oriented people are not known for their speed, but their staying power is tremendous. Generally calm and easygoing people, Mars in Taurus natives can have powerful tempers when they're overly provoked. They generally don't fly off the handle as quickly as others, however (unless Aries is prominent in their chart). <---- hehe, just for the aries man! Mars in Taurus people value strength and stability. They are driven by security and an especial fondness for personal possessions. Most are not afraid to work for what they want, and there is an overall patience to this position of Mars. If it takes a few years to achieve their goals, so be it. People born under a Mars in Taurus are often rather sensual people. Some are slow to arousal, but theirs is an earthy and powerful sensuality. Most have well-defined long-term goals and the determination to achieve them. They usually are not the type of people to take on too many projects at once. If they don't think they can do it, they won't! It is almost impossible to get these people moving once they've made up their minds on a matter. You want them to go shopping with you? Unfortunately for you, about half an hour back, they've kicked up their heels, changed into something comfortable, and they simply won't budge. Immovable is the only way to describe Mars in Taurus people who have made up their minds. Adaptability is not their strong point. In a similar vein, attempting to rush Mars in Taurus people is a lesson in frustration. They won't alter their pace for most anything. If you can get past these "quirks", however, you'll find that Mars in Taurus natives are often quite reliable and strong personalities. It may just be worth the wait! ______________________________________________________________ Much of the history of slavery in the modern world and Civil Rights involving African Americans in the United States has played out while Mars traveled through Taurus. (Click here for more.) The spiritual implications of Mars in Taurus are worthy of discussion as well. After all, our spiritual identity is founded on our deepest values. Mars in Taurus says emphatically: "This will happen." And with determination, he hangs in for however long it takes to get what he desires rather than give up because it didn't come easy. Several noteworthy Mars in Taurus breakthroughs include: Edison's invention of the electric light, successful testing of the polio vaccine, discovery of DNA's double helix structure, Time Magazine's first issue, NBC's founding, Elvis Presley's first TV appearance, the USSR's launching of Sputnik 3, Castro's takeover of Cuba, and People Magazine's first issue. The telephone, radio, NASA, and the Internet all came into being when Mars was in Taurus. Mix the energy of Mars with the insatiable appetite, extravagance, sense of ownership, and endurance of Taurus- and voila! More often than not, you've got the makings of the sumptuous banquet that lasts a lifetime, plus the drive and means to pay for it. What is it about an earth sign, Mars, in general, and Mars in Taurus in particular, that makes for grounding, discipline, and even reasonable conduct from an otherwise unruly planet? The male planet, delighted to be in Venus' chambers, takes his shoes off and dons his finest slippers and a silk smoking jacket: He's capable of his very best behavior. Perhaps part of a Taurus-Mars' secret to success is alchemical: it's the union of spirit and flesh. Here, Mars' ambition is well-calculated; he's as contemplative and patient as he is determined; he's in less of a rush and more in tune with the sultry rhythm of the earth. And no matter what the goal is, he's in it for the long haul. Once Mars in Taurus casts his or her eyes on any sight, he (or she) digs his heels in deep and inwardly says, "This is mine." Mars in Taurus is literally and figuratively ground-breaking. Its `unearthing' and `cutting-through' quality, along with its staying power, showed itself in the April 18, 1906 San Francisco Earthquake, the great dustbowl storm of May 13, 1934, the discovery of the Ruins of Pompeii (April 1, 1748), the beginning of the building of the Panama Canal (Jan 1, 1880), the disappearance of Union Boss Jimmy Hoffa (July 30 1975), and now Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Major economic breakthroughs are also common: All four major U.S. gold rushes and the Oklahoma Land Rush all occurred with a Taurus Mars. The very first life insurance policy was issued with Mars in Taurus on May 22, 1761. And the new bankruptcy law will go into effect on Oct 17, 2005. At his best, he's elegant and enduring--but at his worst, Mars in Taurus is the ultimate connoisseur of cruelty. He's presided over some of the most famous crimes (The Great Train Robbery: May 22, 1868 and The Great `Grain' Robbery: Feb 27, 1972), and the darkest and most violent moments in history. Three young children famous for their murders had Mars in Taurus: the Lindbergh baby (June 22, 1930) whose body was discovered 22 months later when Mars was in Taurus; Lisa Steinberg (May 14, 1981), whose killer, Joel Steinberg, was convicted of manslaughter on Jan 30, 1989 with Mars in Taurus; and JonBenet Ramsy (Aug 6, 1990). The holocaust unfolded under the insistent hand of Mars in Taurus, beginning with the births of Adolf Hitler (April 20, 1889) and Adolf Eichman (March 19, 1906) and continuing with: Herman Goering's warning to all Jews to leave Austria (March 26, 1938); the Germans' beginning construction of Auschwitz (Feb. 21, 1940); the formulation of the "Final Solution" outside Berlin (Jan. 20, 1942); the first arrival of Jews at Auschwitz and the adjoining Birkenau camp (Feb. 27, 1942); and the uprising at the Nazi Treblinka concentration camp, where some 600 prisoners staged a revolt (Aug 2, 1943). The Manhattan Project was initiated (Feb 29, 1940); FDR signed the executive order giving the military authority to intern Japanese-Americans (Feb. 19, 1942), and the first U.S. atomic weapons were tested at Los Alamos (July 16, 1945).
wow. that is something, melodiuscorpitarious (sorry, don't have user name memorized exactly). amazing. really. I really have a lot to learn..
I use my Mars in Taurus in my drumming. It aids holding a steady beat and pushes me to keep going. Taurus is a musical sign like other earth signs. It is also good for wieght lifteres and dancers. Mars in Taurus is determined to get what they want, and usually hold on to it unless there are other qualities to soften the possesiveness. Mars Taurus make passionatel and very sensual lovers.
carrot - yeah there is so much information, when people say astrology is phooy, they only know of sun sign astrology, they have no real understanding of its complexity. if i only new of sun sign astrology, i would be skeptical too. indeed trekker thankyou!! i wanted to bring that up but wasnt sure lol. its a very musical sign and rules the throat so you see alot of singers with taurean influence too.
Billy Joel for one is a Taurus. Elvis had Neptune trine Sun/Merc/Vunus from the earth signs virgo and Capricorn. Barbara Streisand, Janet Jackson, and Stevie Wonde, Pete Townsend all Taurus. Celine Dion has Mars in Taurus, plus Venus/ Mercury in Pisces.
like ive thought about it, and ive been meaning to ask someone. because a celebrity's life acheivements strenghts a weakness are for the most part, public knowledge as their life is sort of put on display, not to mention ...i guess their chart would sort of be intensified...sorta like archetypal indications in a chart....idk, like there is a reason that they are famous...strong personalities, jupiter, the karmic nodes, vertex for celebrity relationships, significant aspects to pluto for people in power, and midhaven what have you... is this why they are studied? because you almost have an intuitive guidline while a person who works in a cubicle (who comes to get their chart read) will not provide you with this information, and while you can get a sense of them, the career etc through prgressoins and transits, you dont have that guideline?
The only way to learn is to study peoples charts that you know something about, like Friends and family, and celebrities. I study charts of different people that I know so that I can become more intuitive with people I don't know. I like finding something in a celebrity chart that tellls me things about that person that the public doesnt already know about that person.
some have said that schizophrenics are institutionalized mystics who haven't been properly guided" Sounds like me.
Hi Trekker, Have you read, "Way of the Peaceful Warrior" series or "Siddhartha"? I think you would enjoy them and it is related to the quote that melodi posted. bb, mdancer
yeah moondancer, lived here my whole life what part of the quarter? i just came back for the quarter coincidentally
I real a lot of biographies of anyone and everyone and have read hundreds of true crime books. Before I read a true crime book, or instance, I dig out every birthdate in that book and even though I don't get the time of birth (sometimes I do) I at least look up their personal placements and when I have all that information I begin reading. The same with biographies of presidents, celebrities, singers, actors, etc. I have learned a great deal through this approach. Particularly in the true crime arena. And I'm a person (too much earth in my chart) who reads a generalistic comment from an astrologer and I must see it proven over and over again before I'm convinced. Like with serial killers. An astrologer once commented that mutable signs predominate in the charts of serial killers. So, off I go, reading about 40-50 serial killer or rapist books and I do see the prepondrance of mutable signs present. Sagittarius tops the list, not surprisingly, as they're depicted as the hunter with the arrow. But to be a good serial killer you need the element of slipprieness and who can be more slippery than the Mutable signs. they can slip their way out any situation if they want to. Bank robbers, well that should be no surprise with Tauraus predominating or the other Venus sign Libra. Considered to be the laziest of the signs with the most luxurious tastes. Finding the easiest way to get there! I just finished reading up on the Judds, comparing the charts of Naomi, Ashley and Wynonna. Fascinating synastry there! Wynonna's Moon conjuncts Naomi's and Naomi's moon conjuncts Ashley's. They were quite the trio and duo, Naomi and Wynnona. Presidential biographies can be equally fascinating. It all makes for more challenging readings than merely reading it per se. I seem to notice frequently in movies that they tend to pair up leading stars with great astrological synastry, like moon to sun in their casting. I'm sure this has been well-orchestrated and no accident.
