The question that has turn many a brother against brother...at least back when I was a kid The mushroom-eating flatcap-wearing goomba-stomping plumber, or the ironically speedy hedgehog with the blue rinse?
Blatantly Mario! He's the ultimate hippy icon. Magic mushrooms, flower power, and there's even a starman waiting in the sky for him! Mario was just blatantly cooler, and he had much more engaging plots. I was always a SNES man myself....
I'm intrigued by your analysis of Mario's different power-ups, Sal. But I'd like to see you explain the frog suit from SMB3
Or the Tanooki suit that also allowed you to become a statue. Unless you think of it as Mario getting "stoned". In which case, go to bed with no supper.
or different hats you could get in mario 64...the metal one being the most spanner-like to your theory-machine
i think i would have to say sonic...for his progressive views on sexuality and hated of fat people and moustaches
Theres always a flash toon to solve every dilemma. http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view.php?id=28041
i didnt know mario could do the crane stance but the fact is , marios games had alot more variety in them and when i play on sonic i find my self trying to get to the end of the level as fast as possible ,where as mario i would take my timeand check out everything on the level. as a game mario is much much better (anyone who thinks sonic is better must just be "stickin to there guns" because they where brought up on sonic).as a character id say sonic is better rolemodel for kids
be glad joel's computers bust.. it'd be full on war for anyone who didn't love mario.. but then he might explode... because i think he likes his sonic too... but yeah pac man all the way home boy!
In terms of the actual games, I'd say Mario now because (at least when I'm playing games) I prefer adventure-based games, whereas I used to be into more adrenalin based games, which Sonic is. I still think sonic games are cool though. I recently got Mario Bros. 3 in emulator form. That game kicks ass but I'm not sure wether or not I can save my progress in the game, is it to do with the emulator or have I wrongly thought that you could save your progress in the game? Mario Kart 64 is one of my all time fave games. In terms of the charcters, I go with sonic as I fell he is (obviously) cool, but also very intellectual.
Check your emulator, especially the "File" tab, Merlin. I think that the SNES and GBA versions of SMB3 can save, but many emulators have a "save state" function, which works just like a normal savegame
sonic - no doubt about it in my mind! i have always played sonic from when i first had a computer and still play now, ( i got a gameboy just for that pupose!) oh no, i just admitted to something terrible!! peace and love stardust xxx
