I've seen posts in the Stoner's Lounge regarding the percentage of tokers who are vegetarian. Just wondering how many of you guys have smoked marijuana/ continue to. Please do fill this survey out....I'm sort of curious if there is a correlation between the two (with veg leading to pot or pot leading to veg.)

    (1) Vegetarian / Vegan (for how long)?
    (2) Have you smoked MJ?
    (3) If so, do you continue to do so...and how often?
    (4) When did you go veg.? (age)
    (5) When did you first toke up? (age)

    My answers:
    (1) Vegetarian: 2 years, Vegan: The last 1.5 years of the 2
    (2) Yes
    (3) At least 3x per week.
    (4) 16
    (5) 17

    1. I was veg for 4 years, then vegan for 1 year, then ate meat for almost 2 years again. (don't ask) Then my partner (who was new to me since I'd been eating meat again) and I went pesco for the last 3-4 years. Around New Years this year, he went veg the rest of the way and I went vegan. :)

    2. Yes

    3. Yes, regularly. :) Every day, several times, if I can. However, I think it's necessary to follow this with a disclaimer: It is the ONLY thing I do. I do not smoke tobacco (haven't done that for 3 or 4 years) or drink alcohol, except a very rare Guinness. I don't even take OTC drugs except in dire emergency.

    4. 12, I think

    5. Is it really bad that I'm not entirely sure here? I think I was 12-13... But I'd been hanging out with a lot of smoke for a year or two before that.

Hey hummblebee, I saw that you wrote you drink a guinness occasionally. For those veggies that are not aware of guinness: Guinness uses isinglass as a fining agent in the brewing process. Isinglass (correct me if I'm wrong) is derived from the swimbladders of tropical fish. Disgusting, isn't it? I have also had some guinness' being a veggie before I knew about this. All types, bottle, can, keg, cask, etc. Beer manufacturers are not required to disclose what type of chemicals/animal byproducts they use in the brewing process. It is also common for some beers/wines to use gelatin instead of isinglass. NOT all beers/wines use chemicals/animal byproducts though, thankfully! Check out this link for a small list (vegetarian and vegan) of beer/wine/cider/spirits:

Sorry to bring bad news, but the veggie community needs to know about this!

I think the correlation is just that a lot of pot-smokers are hippies, a lot of vegetarians are hippies, there you go

Haha, I appreciate your analytical skills...but I'd also like to see the order in which the two decisions occurred, just seems interesting to me.

Not me ;) But... I'm allergic to everything including cigarette smoke and can't stand the taste of alcohol. My "drugs" of choice are a nice dark chocolate & a cuppa strong black tea.

    lacto veg transitioning to vegan

I smoked in high school. occasionally get ganja godies now (not smoking, per se, but consumption). Perhaps 4-5 times a year. medical use.
veg at 13, took one year to full transition
    first smoke, 12 or so...

BUT I have a theory that both smokers and vegheads have the ability to look at options to what they were indoctrinated with as kids.
