I wouldn't say totaly legal. Police are still busting dealers and you can't technically buy it but possession is ok. So it's sort of like Amsterdam, accepted to have but no legal way to get it. I foresee something like alcohol sales, you can't sell it without taxes and giving the government their cut, hence why the street dealer is busted. As of now they have to figure out how this taxed system will work. This should happen within the next year.
Predictions stated it would take 6 months for weed shops to open.. That's about now Don't know of any!! But this 4/20, everyone is going downtown for a smoke out!
They are thinking about legalizing it here in ohio as well. What i am wondering is when you pay the federal taxes on money that you make from selling or growing pot for profit, is while the government says they won't bust you , they actually could and then you would be stuck with a felony. OR call me crazy here...what if they just choose to ignore it and eventually legalize it federally because the see that it lowers crime rates, and all the money they are making on the federal taxes is just too much to resist.
^ There is also allot of money in it remaining illegal. If the war on drugs ends the elite loose their slave labor. They depend on the prison population to give them third world labor costs in America. It will never be legal on a federal level in my opinion. For that to happen the DEA would need to essentially put themselves out of a job. It will be their call and they will never do that to themselves. But if enough states legalize it we can make the DEA irrelevant, at least when it comes to weed.
