I do not see the problem with using the word man in its various forms when talking specifically about members of the species Homo Sapiens. It means human. It was never intentionally designed to be sexist. It is the oldest use of the word. Changing the spelling of women to womyn doesn't change the meaning of the word. Just my thoughts. <Now get back in the kitchen where you belong woman. ^_^>
Hahah...that was great... babyhellfire, some womyn really do spell it that way...I have no idea why, but whatever floats their boat...
People who spell it womyn seriously are complete stuffy cunts that I want to punch in the baby maker to keep them from procreating. Like they would anyway, they want to distance themselves from men apparently.
thinking bout pronunciations now: woman: Wo-man whoa MAN womin women Wo-men weman wee man Wo-myn- wo mynstration whoa gyna no,thats just not appealing.
gender based cultural mentality is fucked, but until the culture behind it chainges, language and the way its used, can't really be expected to reflect it. although, this splitting hairs over word usage, and the words themselves, may have played a roll in preventing much needed evolvings in the dominant culture when they might otherwise have taken place. =^^= .../\...
I alternate between man and human. Mostly due to poetics. But "womyn" is just ridiculous. Well, politics of identity is ridiculous period.
I don't think that would appease them... Their problem is that a lot of the words for woman is derived from the word for man. For example, female from male- she from he-woman from man. You know? They would only be happy with a word seperate from the root man, in the way the word shoe is different from the word bagel, with no commonality whatsoever.
