It's fun being pregnant, but i can't sleep!!!!!! ugh! I'll try to go to bed at 9 pm or so, get up after an hour of tossing an turning, then go back, toss and turn some more, get up, and this just keeps happening. I have to get up cuz I'm just so uncomfortable I can't stand laying down. but it's not even physically, I can be tired mentally, and my mind just starts going nuts when my head hits the pillow. I used to be good at meditation techniques to get to sleep, but it just doesn't seem to work anymore. man, if it's this bad right now, I'm scared to see what it's going to be like in a couple months when my belly takes completely over!..... does anyone know any good ways for me to "put myself to bed?" (that sounded kinda goofy). The lack of sleep really ain't helpin the mood swings, lol. guess it's good practice, eh?
Are you taking a calcium supplement? The amount of calcium in your prenatal vitamin is not sufficient. Get a good calcium supplement from the health food store, and take 1000 mg calcium and 500 mg magnesium a couple hours before bed. Calcium and magnesium help soothe the "nerves" and help you relax. You can also get some chamomile tea and use 2-3 tea bags in a nice cup of tea with a little honey before bed. Sip in a nice, warm bath.
actually, i'm not taking prenatal vitamins, just regular ones. i tried all these different kinds of prenatal ones, and they'd ALL throw me into these violent vomiting sprees for hours. my doc finally said that all i can take is a regual multi-vitamin. but i'll be sure to ask my doc next week about some calcium suppliments in association with the vitamins that he has me on right now. sadily, i can't stand chamomile tea one of the few teas i just don't like. it really sucks, as it's one of the most widely used. hopefully the calcium and magnesium suppliments will work. i'm praying they will.....i feel like a zombie, lol
i couldn't sleep at all with my last pregnancy. i finally went out and bought SIX! body pillows and made a little "nest" to sleep in. the last two months were the worst. i slept most night half sitting up on my mothers oversized chair with all my pillows snuggled around me. maybe someone could give you a relaxing massage before bed.. that would have helped me a lot.
For some reason, going to bed with a fan on (and blankets pulled up tight, haha) helps me. My husband hates it, so i try to get to bed at least 20 minutes before he comes in and turns it off.
I always got my cat up in the bed with me, he'd lay on my stomach, just so he could be close to JoeJoe, and calm him down. It was very relaxing. I also tried to take a warm bath just before bed, and get a foot massage. The body pillows work well, too. some soothing music works well, also. deb
