I'm in the process of painting a new mailbox for the front of my house (pictures may be posted soon, probably in the Crafts forum) and I've painted cute things like gnomes and fairies on it, but I'd like to also write a short and sweet mailbox spell or front door spell, does anyone have any suggestions? I've tried doing a google search but with no luck. I've found some rather long chants - I'd like to keep it at most 4 lines, and w/o listing names of dieties or the word 'goddess' all over it. I'm not that creative in writing my own chant... so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I've had a quick look in my books and i found nothing but i like to write poetry so i'll have a go if i may? With these colours i wish to choose, yellows, silver, gold and blues, I have kept my home welcome to all, but i really hope no salesmen will call. it's an effort i suppose i could probs write something a bit more Wiccan but it may take me a while. I'll keep you informed of anything i write for you
right i've had a proper look in a book of mine called "A Witches Bible" by Janet ans Stewart Farrar. they suggest a witches bottle filled with herbs and then burried under the house but you can also just place it outside near the door maybe you want to burry it under the mailbox. I've given the latin names too for the lesser know ones. The herbs they suggest are... Houseleek (Sempervivum tectorum) against lighting Garlic against psyhic vampirism.....ok!? St Johns wort against ghosts, devils, imps and thunderbolts Pennyroyal (Mentha pulegium) against swimming of head and hysteria (they say that like it's a bad thing lol) Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) which is a plant of the Goddess in her dark, protective aspect Oak and Holly reprsenting the waxing and waning year also it's an aspect of the God so it balences the Blackthorn, and also to offer all year round protection It also says if you favour the Celtic maybe your bottle should contain the 7 sacred herbs of the Druids...mistletoe, vervain (Verbena officinalis), henbane (hyoscyamus niger), primrose, pulsatilla (Anemone pulsatilla), clover, and aconite (Aconitum napellus). it also says that henbane and aconite are poisonious but are perfectly safe within the bottle but should not be used medicinally and you should wear gloves when handleing them. It also says a bit of research into herbs will alow you to make a list up of herbs which are best suitted to your own needs.
