Alright well from what i understand magnolia fest is not as good as it used to be in the past years... just what i have heard but if you ever get a chance to go to wanee fest, YOU DEFINITLY SHOULD!!! great music like allman bro, derek truck, gov't mule, medeski martin and wood, oh man good times all around. if anyone is going to head up to wanee fest in april let me know, maybe we could meet up there. check out www.waneefestival.com my email is nirvana_skater@hotmail.com and if you have myspace www.myspace.com/hippie_bear.
i dont know if string cheese will be there or not. and schwahead you look like you are having a great time man. haha... you look familiar too. i may have seen you at several shows. where did you go to shcool at?
It's only gotten shady these last 3 or 4 years. Like someone said earlier, don't smoke where you can be seen! String Cheese has not been there since the vibe has gotten unfriendly (2003 or so) and they would cut into another band's time slot...but we can hope! I compared the line ups at Magfest & at Down on the Farm (2 weeks later) and chose the latter easily. However, I applaude Magfest on their support of local music. Here's something I made for another board that may help others here who may be split on which fest to attend: Down On The Farm Nov 10-12 produced by Spanish Moss Productions The Spanish Moss Foundation is a non-profit organization, whose mission is to provide financial support and enrich the lives of those in need in the name of music, scholarship, ecology, and community. * Chris Berry & Panjea * Karl Denson's Tiny Universe * Gov't Mule * New Monsoon * Tea Leaf Green * Moonshine Still * Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk * Old Union * Perpetual Groove * Brother Bean * Drive-By Truckers * Col. Hey everyone! I've been going up to Suwannee for shows for almost 10 years now. Magfest has definitely deteriorated in quality. WANEE is the SHIT!! Never had any problems at Wanee, although I have heard stories. Down on the Farm Festival is WONDERFUL!! Great price, great location, INSANE lineup!! Not to be missed. Also, what about Langerado?? Save your $$ for March kids!
Oh, I forgot to mention...what about Ratdog's 4 night run through Florida?!?!?! That's going to be INSANE! Any Ratdog freaks out there???
hmm im from ohio.... i went to school at linconlview highschool in van wert county..... i live in athens now... i go to lots of shows... mainly hookah...
right on man, when is hookah playing again? i have yet to see them but heard them album and WANT to see them
are you kidding me? man i have heard that everyone loved them. man that sucks. so where will they play if not at wanee?
Magfest and Suwanee are two different animals. If you're looking for a more mature festival crowd, with an emphasis on "americana" music, Magfest/Springfest is for you. I've been going to Suwanee (Magfest, SPringfest, Wanee) for about 8 years. I just checked out the schedule for this year's magfest and I don't see any deterioration at all! If you're looking for jambands and a more heady (not to mention, sketchy) crowd then Wanee and DOTF are for you. I've noticed that the security presence at Suwanee seems to be directly proportional to the number of jambands and their fans. I've never had a problem at any festival at Suwanee. A little discretion is all that's necessary. The one thing Suwanee offers, that DOTF doesn't, is the comfort of it's campground amenties (RV hook-ups, electricity, showers!). I also like the amphitheater set-up that allows you to place your chairs for the day. When you get long in the tooth like me, that becomes a big selling point. Based on line-up only, yeah, I like DOTF, but when everything else is factored in, I'll take Magfest. Then, in the spring...Wanee!!
No...I'm not a cop...I'm simply a music lover, one that's wondering why you'd think I'm a cop, and curious as to why cops took your camping spot. Care to elaborate?? -vince
I dunno.... www.ekoostik.com best way to keep track or www.hookahheads.com.... online discussion board for hookah fans
A group of friends and I are trying to go to Wanee this year. It's like 3 hours from here but it sounds like it's worth it. How's the camping there? We don't have an RV or anything so we'd be in tents and stuff. It sounds like it's kind of sketchy. We didn't realize that. We're planning on going to Bonnaroo too so Wanee mught be fun to do before the big party.
