Today i went to the woods gathering some shrooms. I don't have much experience with them, better to say, none. How can i be sure that those are "the" shrooms? Should i try to eat them? Since i heard alot of stories of people dying from eating the wrong kinds of mushrooms. Anyways, here are some pictures, i got a whole bag of them. edit : the large one showing is about the largest i found, and the things at its bottom are sticked leafes edit edit : This is supposed to be the europian kind of shrooms, don't know the english name of it.
The 2nd pair look more like it. Nipples and all. The ones we're getting atm are about 3-4cm long and you need to eat 25-50. Don't know about yours.
25-50? that's alot, that includes a whole day of being in the field ^^. I ate those 2 a while ago, i felt a bit "high" but that was it, i will try a bigger amount soon.
Even ones that buise blue can be deadly! When checking shrooms first look at the area they are growing in, in a garden or in a cow field, then cut the stem and wait a bit if bluing/purple color apears then store in a paper bag once you get home get a spore print, look in your handy mushroom guide may it be a book or on-line for a picture similar, match the gills then the spore print and then the area it was grown in. some mushrooms are more common in woods and garden than in cow fields and the other way around, also check the state they are found to make sure there is that strain of shrooms in your area. If that all checks out, eat them or get good pictures and writen disctription and get a second opinion from shroomery.org or other place. The other 2 mushys you found look like lbm (little brown mushrooms) which are deadly. J.C
What J.C. says is good advice, but unless you're an experienced mycologist, you're still taking a chance on getting sick (I doubt anyone who was really serious about this would eat an eighth of a mushroom they were not sure of, so dying usually won't happen). So yeah. Get some field guides. Wikipedia has a list of key things to look for in mushrooms to identify them. Look at that as well.
Yes, actually i'm having enormous headache and feel a bit dazed and unconcentrated.. , fucking feels like my brain is bleeding. Bah, probably nothing, i've had headache before..
Both of those pictures don't look like actives to me. You definately want to be sure man, even a small piece of a poisonous lookalike can kill you! Here's some ways to identify them: 1. Take pictures of the full mushrooms, and underneith them 2. Measure the cap and stem 3. Record any bruising that may be present 4. Take a spore print 5. Record what it was growing on 6. Record the weather conditions & season it was growing in To make a proper identification, get a field guide or inquire expert identifyers with this information on a forum. Good luck, Colin
