Got your attention? good , lets discuss that, when was America great? was it back when we stole it (America) form the native American Indians was that great? or how about during the industrial revolution when we allowed children to toil in factories with little to no oversight, was that great? How about when we treated women (still kinda do) like second class citizens denying basic rights, was that great? How about when we imported people from other countries to be slaves, was that great? or how about when we waited until the Germans had the death camps up and running and we waited until Pearl harbor to get involved was that great?

A country founded by treasonous individualists willing at one point to take in anybody from anywhere "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free."
A creed we may have tried to live up to at one point.

I love the dichotomy, we do aspire to great ideals just as humans we fall short

Which America are we heading for? the visions of a narcissistic megalomaniac or a slightly modified more of the same?

MAGA is primarily straight, cis, white, Christian men.

Pretty sure it's always been a great time for them. Anyway, the rest of us just want it to be great for us too. And MAGA really doesn't want to let that happen.

Because they're so secure and confident...

The stats dont bear this out : The total population of United States is estimated to be 331.10 million with 164.20 million males (49.59%) and 166.90 million females (50.41%). There are 2.70 million more females than males in United States.

so for maga to be so close polling their are PLENTY of woman who are maga

    Right.

Which is why I said "primarily" and not "entirely."

Didn't that country also go to war in Vietnam over oil? Losing the war and 45,000 American lives. Yes, we've never been greater than losing a full on war to a tiny country.

Didn't that country imprison millions of Americans for growing, using or selling a plant? A plant that is now legal in most states.

Didn't that country start a war in Iraq over lies about WMD? Then another war in Afghanistan? Does this country ever take a break from starting or encouraging more wars so the military industrial complex can reap more profit from the death of millions?

Then even the idea that the solution to horrible crimes like school shootings is to buy more guns?

What each one of these issues have in common is they are all Republican and rightwing policies that harm rather than benefit anyone. I could go on...

    Great idea for a thread!

Let's vilify Republicans for what they are, hateful, arrogant and out of touch with reality.

Does vilify accomplish anything? I am dumbfounded that the majority stick with trump, gaetz and mjt,. I am in agreement that they are what you speak BUT in order to progress one needs to move beyond vilification and hate other wise , “Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster... for when you gaze long into the abyss. The abyss gazes also into you.” ― Friedrich W. Nietzsche

You are correct, but pointing out the obvious certainly must help.

It's hard to vilify Donald Trump when he's already a villain. Unfortunately he's a conman skilled at convincing gullible people to vote for him, thus he still has a lot of support. I hope he loses the election in a huge landslide!

My experience with MAGA nuts is that the majority don’t even know what they’re so devoted to, let alone why.

On any of a hundred YouTube channels, you’ll find people interviewing rally goers and they can’t answer a single question (coherently) about why they even like or agree with him. Oh, they talk a lot, say nothing and only drive the point home that they got on board a train having no idea what it’s destination was and are now too embarrassed or stupid to get off.

My favorite interviews are the ones that end in the classic “I don’t know, I just feel that way.” When finally painted into the common sense corner by the interviewer.

The sane Trumpers (rare as they may be) simply vote with their wallets with little regard for anything else.

I hope she beats his ass like the red headed step child he’s always been.

Considering how many millions of no-nothing ,dumb asses are in his cult---this country is going to be dealing with his craziness for decades whether he is here on not!! And of coarse that bastion of right wing lies, "Faux News " will remain as dishonest as ever. :rage::mad:

You’re right. I know Trump nuts raising their kids in the cult.

There could be two generations before it’s diluted enough to be forgotten and forgotten it must be.

I think if he’s not elected that his legacy (whatever the fuck that is) will be systematically erased. No schools named after him, no naval ships and his portraits will wind up in the cellar where they belong.

True, one might overplay his hand in a 100% Donald Trump play.

Uh, I doubt that the U.S. (if that's the country you're talking about) got into Vietnam over oil. The major driver was U.S. strategic theory rooted in the domino theory, fancy game theoretic models advanced by Defense Secretary McNamara, and economist Walter Rostow's ideas about getting developing counties to "takeoff".
