And the angel of the Lord came unto me,
    snatching me up from my
    place of slumber,
    and took me on high,
    and higher still until we
moved in the spaces betwixt the air itself.
and he bore me unto a
vast farmland of our own midwest,
and as we descended cries of
impending doom rose from the soil.
    one thousand, nay, a million
    voices full of fear.
    and terror possessed me then.
    and I begged,

"Angel of the Lord, what are these tortured screams?"
And the angel said unto me,
"These are the cries of the carrots,
    the cries of the carrots.
You see, reverend Maynard, tomorrow is harvest day
and to them it is the holocaust."
And I sprang from my slumber drenched in sweat
like the tears of one millions terrified brothers
    and roared,
    "Hear me now,
    I have seen the light,
    they have a consciousness,
    they have a life,
    they have a soul.
    damn you!
    let the rabbits wear glasses,
save our brothers...can I get an amen?
can I get a hallelujah? thank you, Jesus.

    ;)

That was a most interesting article.

Have you ever read the studies - from several years back - in which plants were attached to a polygraph type machine - and the results yielded were very Similar to those of people.

During the study (couple of months or so, I think), the plants always reacted to people's thoughts, if "their human" was present, and one of the plants showed a High Stress level - unexplained at the lab Until it was determined that her human had been in a car wreck at the same time!

Plants (and trees) are (imho) some of the most wonderful creations on this earth. How sad that most of this world does not appreciate anything except for war and technology.:(

There's scientific evidence of trees being scared of humans...it's amazing...
I love how science is finally catching up with animism.

Well considering how most of Mankind has been brainwashed so as to feel so frigging entitled and superior to everything they can force to submit to their whims it's sadly far from suprising.

I've actually been trying to find a cheap oscilliscope for my Gardening next spring, was thinking of testing to see how their growth and overall health might respond to being subjected to what would be considered artificial "Happy plant thoughts", but of course if I can also use the technology to diagnose what's troubling them, all the better.

Yea' I know, it would be akin to George Orwell's Arboretum but an interesting excercize nontheless.

^and, for the most part, they Should be. Sad, huh:(

I've been looking up the plant polygraph stuff and Wikipedia has some good info, the best article I found was under "Plant perception (paranormal)" but when I searched I saw there seemed to be a surprising number of related articles - through the basic AOL search engine.

My family has land beside a rock quarry, which the quarry wants to buy for Big Bucks. I don't give a damn about Money. I know we all need it -money-but no way will we ever sale-and Mama left it up to me since I'm sort of nuts on the subject.

My fav place to meditate and think is out there. I Know the land knows when I'm there - and that I'll protect it as long as I am in this flesh. Does that sound crasy?

I'd hope not as I feel about the same for the 2 acres I'm on in the Ozarks.

And remember, ya dont need money, you need to be able to produce enough food for you & yours, and ability to produce enough goods to barter and trade for the things you cant make yourself. Thou for now I'd guess you need to have a little cash for the sake of Property tax. But of course it really depends on what sort of lifestyle you can find yourself acceptable of. Someone hooked on Big mac's and Shopping malls probably couldnt handle the perfect world I envision between my ears.

But I guess this sort of talk is best saved for the Communal living section. :D

how interesting....I just read about animism, but I don't understand why one can't proscribe to any other type of religion,( if I read it correctly. ) For I have always felt there were spirits, or Something in plants and trees especially.

I'm all for thinking outside the box but just once I wish I could "fit" into some kind of category.

I'm too "religious" (spiritual is my preferred word) for people who don't believe in the Master Creator and not nearly "religious" enough in the eyes of those that attend church.

Good thing I don't need approval, huh? Still... oh well:cheers2:

The way it read - in the description of the forum - it was like you shouldn't "believe" in anything else. Did I just interpret it wrong? Which is certainly possible.

    I don't believe in anything.
    Beliefs are like dead-ends.

Animism is acknowledging the spirits within everything. You'll figure it out.

I usualy do but I didnt want to detract from the awesome topic you raised too much, I've read snippets here and there on the subject of plants and their senses / emotions since '94 iir but have rarely seen it openly discussed.

Sad that Monsanto Seed came up with GMO produce before folks got around to reasearch like this as it could in theory be just as sucessfull in promoting bountiful harvests without resorting to fudging with the D.N.A. of an organism which can spread like wildfire thruout it neighboring cousins thru cross pollinization and possibly lead to greater problems like Colony Collapse Disorder or simply spreading it's non-viable seed traits to neighboring crops thereby ensuring a continued source of revenue for Monsanto thru repeat sales & forced new customers.

Ooops, I'm doing it again. :D

    I know........

now we have insane GMO pollen being distributed all throughout the world in the wind...

You can't even be organic if you're anywhere near them.. crazy.

Ahhh....Well, I don't have any problem with animism whatsoever then. Rocks - I Love rocks, and am convinced that some of my (thousands) of rocks have superior intellect and personality to some humans I know.:D

I don't know about rock intellect..

but there sure is the spirit of the stone.

I've turned to stone on many occasions, and am very familiar with this spirit.

I can hear them groaning sometimes. so dense.

Ya', never read up on animism myself but have felt the same thing regarding plants, animals, rocks, sky, ocean etc.

As I view it all things from nature have that vital force many call a soul. In the case of Trees for example, my view on it has always been they are quite like people but simply people who've spent their lives in a deep state of medetation, Strong and healthy trees = wise old souls. Sick and twisted, infested with bugs, sort of like Karma from past lives or a hell on earth.

Think I've got to do some reading on animism soon.

Once, I set a car on fire/blew it up because it was left on the land -people using Bad magick had desecrated the land and killed an animal , the car got "stuck" (I think the land wouldn't let it go) and my and my "helpers" fixed it.
Watching that car blow, with the animal inside (to cleanse It) was beautiful. But back to the OP (sorta) - I Saw the trees around the fire literally bend back - the fire raged pretty high for a while - and not a single leaf on a single tree was even singed. Pretty neat, I thought.
