until stuff starts going wrong, and it's such an incredible pain to fix it yourself that you might as well just pay the entirely too much for service. good luck to you, hope it's nothing first gen.
Which one Penny? I have the 2007 model, the white one 120GB HD. It's pretty neat but I've had a fair few problems it, so I'm not entirely happy with it. It has never ever crashed on me though, but there are a few bugs I still get with iTunes and my bluetooth mouse/keyboard. A lot of people have the same problem.
I hope you got applecare with it, Ive used mine probably 5 or 6 times all for things that were apple's fault (faulty hardware) that they said would've cost me money otherwise.
I've never gotten a virus on my windows computer, ever. either. but that just could be because I am reasonably careful about how I use the internet.
probably. its a pain to do all those anti-viruses on pc's though macs dont need all those. and i dont have the patience for doing it anyway and screw myself over every time with a pc
I don't have an anti-virus running right now. I only do scans bi-quarterly, and I only install the software when it's time to do a scan (it's a waste of hdd space otherwise) it's like knowing when you're in a bad neighborhood, just with the internet.
but it costs twice to three times what it should for the specs. I guarantee you I could build a computer better than any retail mac (a lot better) for the same money, and still have enough cash left over to build a media pc.
I got a brand new one, with Mac OS X Leopard on it - updating to Snow Leopard in the Fall for like 30 bucks.. it the fastest computer I've ever touched. It works great and it looks gorgeous too. My old Dell totally finally died on me.. remember all the problems I had with that one!!!! And getting a new PC now with stupid Vista on it, no thanks..
Oh - and that tiny webcam integrated in it, and the magnetic AC plug and all.. it's just little things but they're amazing!
MacBooks are really great laptops, but I strongly recommend getting AppleCare. I have always saved money and aggravation by getting it. And you get it fixed really fast if something goes wrong.
I liked that touch too, I was amazed when the plug leapt out of my hand into the socket when I first used it. Is it one of the new metallic ones with the giant touchpad that clicks wherever you press it? They have some neat finger response features, you can use three fingers to scroll through pages on safari and all sorts.
True, but expensive. Apple don't give a shit if your computer breaks out of warranty, as I have found out. As much as I like my mac, I am not very happy with the service I got from them recently.
no I couldn't afford the aluminum one.. I got the new white one. the touch pad is amazing on this one too tho - "caress" it with 2 fingers and it scrolls!
