I ditched that POS Winblows over 8 years ago and never looked back. I have a 2 1/2 year old PPC Mac Mini that's been running 24/7 and it NEVER fails me. I also have a Macbook. They are NOT seriously over priced and are FAR more reliable than Winblows will ever be. Microsoft can suck my ass.
cool, cool... i was hoping that this would be a big thread, but at least it shows the preferred company.
Did you know that Apple/Mac is over 25% of the current computer user market? Mac sells more computers than any other company except one. Dell. And that says a lot since most large schools and companies get huge discounts on Dells. It should be known that Mac is the 2nd most bought computer. It should also be known that Linux runs on PPC Apple, Intel Mac, and generic computers. Linux has an estimated 29 million users worldwide (registered and not registered). Use linux? get registered here: http://counter.li.org/
I'm a Mac user (8 years now) but I don't think they're anywhere near as high as 25% yet. Maybe 10% I'd believe....
MUCH more stable, no viruses, far more secure then Windows can or will ever be. No secretly sending data behind your back. Install it on as many PCs as you want, no charge. The list goes on and on. Oh, did I mentions it's free? Windows is all most people (and businesses) know, from years and years of every PC maker having it on their machines. People are basically brainwashed into using it and most people will not change. Their loss.
if you honestly believe macs are "far superior to" anything, you need to grab a shovel and start beating your head. macs are good for SOME things, x86/x64 "PC's" are good for some things, x86 macs are good for some things, linux, great for some things, and, FreeBSD is great for some things not a one of them is cut and dry far superior, and to say otherwise is idiotic fanboyism I would argue that FreeBSD's port system makes it much more user friendly than linux, while maintaining the level of user power, and security, but, that is very much a personal taste issue this is a pissing contest, and you all know it, just learn the right OS for what you want to do, install it, and use it, I like gaming, and I have a few servers, so I have windows, and FreeBSD, you couldn't pay me to use a mac server, and there just aren't a whole lot of games for OS's other than windows. so, just make an intelligent rational decision eh?
