I am thinking about getting up in the middle of the night to go and take some photos, it might be clear tonight and there's loads of snow so could make some great pics. Bloody cold tonight though -10 they are forecasting. Do you know what time GMT it starts and ends?

    Hello,

after 7:00 MEZ one might expect to see the moon darkening. The maximum phase is about 8:40 MEZ. If you are lucky the moon is still above the horizon at that time in Nijmegen.

    Regards
    Gyro

I hope I can do my morning poo before I have to go out, imagine if I have to take a dump right in the middle of a selenelion that would be just ...wyrd.... and cold.

I'm boiling up my hand warmers right now in prep. I wish I had some whisky left.

Keep in mind that what time it happens depends on where you are (besides the time zone differences)...

Of course, it doesn't matter anyway as the whole damned world is clouded over...

Yes but we could be in for not only a selenelion, but a sunrise view of it.

The Ursids meteor shower can be seen. Plus it's the winter solstice on the 21st, the same day as the lunar eclipse. Quite rare for all of those things at once.

Shit it's started to cloud over a bit, looks like ti will pass. I think it will clear up, cold ness has a way of dispersing clouds I remember when I say the solar eclipse in france in 1999 it was overcast but as the moon passed over the sun it caused the air to cool which was just enough to clear the sky so we could see it.
