I have heard so much lip service on these forums as to how "acid has made me a better person". Does anybody actually have any practical examples that can clearly illustrate how dropping acid has directly resulted in "you" assertively taking action towards improving a situation that makes a positive difference in the community/world - however big or small?

And I'm not talking about how clearly you see and feel god/nature, and all of that sparkly love in your heart, (we've all read it thousands of times already). I'm talking about stories that involve being so motivated and enlightened (post trip) where you actually took specific action towards acheiving a positive goal or idea that came to you whilst tripping, and then physically followed through on it until it's conclusion.

It would be really interesting and refreshing to read some honest testimonials regarding some quantifiable breakthroughs and experiences towards making this world a better place via lsd.

cheers and best wishes to all.

I used LSD to quit smoking cigs, I don't think I would have been able to without it. I tried everything from patches to gum to hypnotism and none of it worked.

LSD has allowed me to be more empathetic. Before LSD I was a close minded prick that didn't care about other people at all, LSD forced me to deal with that to some extent.

The list is waaay to long for me to type up. But I will share one example.

I was HIGHLY addicted to benzos and opiates. It all started when I got 90mg of xanax in freshman year. I finished them all in a week. Pills plagued me in high school. I took 140mg of oxy contin and 12mg of xanax in school and was rushed to the hospital. I was doing so many pills and I had horrible views on life and didnt care about much of anything. Then in the summer when I was 15 I dropped acid for the first time. Realized how stupid I had been and completly stopped taking pills on that day. I think its safe to say the chemical saved my life.

because man....you like, trip and stuff
    *giggles*

no but seriously, i think acid users abstain from other drugs that actually cause harm. when i did acid it made me realize how fucked up i was, trying to please everyone else and never even considering myself. i was so depressed ALL the time before i dropped that shit. now i feel great everyday. i appreciate everything. i can appreciate a blade of grass the way you would consider a work of art. when i hear a bird sing, it is the most beautiful piece of music i could ever think of.

LOL... Excellent. Very true comment. Fear and confusion are certainly valid motivators for facilitating perspective and positive change.

in a vain attempt to explain my view in words.... you are on a hypothetical train all your life. This train is unoticed to an acid virgin's eye. One accepts that this is the way you are going and consequently lives a reality that is constructed largely on outside influences.... you take lsd and suddenly you can get out of this direct path and look at where you are heading from a birds eye view. You can see your life and who you project yourself to be from an outsider's eyes. Hence seeing yourself for who you really are. If you dont like what you have seen represented as "yourself" then your ego is lost. And one starts rebuilding from the ground up. The rebuilding stage happens after an ego is shattered and one sees all of thier flaws (in logic and in practice), and good traits as well. Ater all of this... one is sure to have become a better person and far less judgemental.

It is more complex then can be explained with words. Alls I can say is... try LSD and you tell me what you think.

I often say lsd is the best thing to ever happen to me……but I never had to describe why—you really made me think.
Before lsd I had a lot of “concepts” about life, myself, god, the universe. I had a rough understanding mostly shaped by books and vague meditations where I got millisecond moments of connectedness to something greater….i believed whole heartedly but I believed blindly.

There was a spiritual ceiling that I hit (fear, ego) that just wouldn’t allow the door to open all the way. Understand that years prior to psychedelic life I was already completely immersed in spiritual life—I was a nun, then left and made a humble living in spiritual related work…I was obsessed with making that ‘connection’-my whole life revolved around spirit and even still there was this ceiling. Lsd turned concepts into direct experience. the ceiling was lifted…layers of muck peeled off.

Every time I trip I get realizations about my dramas, my patterns. Why I do the things I do that cause me drama or resistance. Then I am able to let them go & evolve. Every time its something different. My last trip was about why I put on weight & being selfish …the trip before was about loving the path I’m on…not constantly thinking about what I could or should be doing, just be glad that I am doing something. Every trip its something different…but each time I come away feeling lighter, re-charged and in-tune with a higher purpose….a higher vibration.

i wouldnt say LSD nessecarily makes a BETTER person out of you, but it does teach you alot about yourself, as well as put alot of things into persepective.

here is an example from the first time i tripped.

i live out in So-cal. My friend had sid, and he offered me a hit. So i gladly accepted his offer and drove to Santa Monica beach with him and some other friends. 30 minutes into the trip i realized that i could not stop laughing. Thats when i realized i was frying. (i took one perforated hit in the shape of a triangle, and these were by far the best hits i have ever come across.) about 1-2 hours into the trip i noticed i was holding my sweater in my right hand because it was sunny out and we were walking all over the place, so naturally i was getting hot. But then i had a sudden realization. i realized that if it got cold, i could simply put on the sweater and i wouldnt be cold anymore. i could still stay at the beach and have a great time because i was prepared for the cold and the heat. that made me really happy. to know that if it got cold (which it does in the evening at any beach) i would be able to warm myself up with that sweater.

the point is, LSD has made me appreciate the things i used to take for granted.
its simple stuff like that, that makes LSD a great mind opener.

but really its all on how you percieve things. if you have a positive mind state, you can really learn alot during your trip. (in some cases, make your self a better person)

hope that clears things up for you.

LSD makes a genuinly good person into a better person; i agree.

But don't assume that LSD works universally. Don't forget, Charles Manson and his whole 'family' of murderous psychotic buddies took LSD together regularly.

Acid enforces what you already know to be true. If a sociopathic murderer took LSD, I'm sure it would just cement the concept of murder as something justifiable.

For me, LSD just helped me see God in Nature and brought about a sparkly love in my heart. Dont know about all this other stuff....
Regardless, a great quote by Ghandi is "be the change you wish to see in this world". It's point is that EVERY change begins with you, at least once you realize that you and everyone else is stuggling in this life together. So, LSD changing how you feel about yourself will change how you feel about others, potentially starting a chain reaction of positive activity.

yeah, Acid you drop it and then it's increasingly apparent that there are other levels of consciousness operating on a parralell plane to ours
you can feel the emotions of the trees and flowers, animals too seem to have their own complex agenda
you can see other people for who they really are because you are also seeing yourself for who you really are and this can help you in making the decision of who you choose to be friends with

in short acid makes you a better person if you already have a mindset in the right direction, if you have this undying thirst for knowledge of the spiritual world
Acid turns atheists into believers and offers the answers needed to move forward

that being said i'm still an atheist

Its different for everyone but I do believe it unlocks a higher understanding of life, its as if you can step completely outside yourself for a moment, and see yourself and the world for the way it really is, and not the way the world tells you it is.

It can help you to become a better person, truely understanding yourself is the first step, its as if it takes all your thoughts, presumptions, hangups, etc and puts them through a blender. Which for most people is good, but then again I think some people cannot handle that dramatic of an awakening too(i/e bad trip)

I like the analogy of stepping thru a door, turning around to step back thru and the door disappears. One is never the same.I used alcohol to cover deep emotional pain and was ,when drunk, dangerous, foolish and lucky not to have been killed or to have killed someone.Couple hits of windowpane--BLAM-quit drinking for 22 years and started to understand that I could heal myself and be a more spiritual, loving and considerate human. Not to mention realising how "straight" people have a much more restricted view of "reality".I remember in the late 60's, a couple of young hippies were hitch-hiking up big sur way,got into a volkswagon with a "straight guy",gave him some acid and he flipped and killed them.It sure as hell can exacerbate what's been 'installed' before in someone's life. Some people can not progress spiritually without an acid awakening.I believe I was one such.
