When Lou Bega sang "Mambo #5" in 1999 he sounded like an American jazz singer, maybe from New Orleans. Even his mannerisms seemed American. But Lou Bega isn't American. He's actually from Munich, Germany.

You know that's amazing he can do that so well. Also they say it's not easy to lose an accent. Does anyone have any video of him talking in German. I'm just curious what he really sounds like.

Yeah. I remember it being a catchy club hit in 2002.

I was not daft on a lot of the pop music of the 2000s, mind you, as much of it became increasingly annoying. My family got cable in the late 90s, and before YouTube existed, I would view retro music videos on VH1 Classic.

The music from the 80s and earlier just sounds more exciting, the cheesy rubbish aside. But a lot of music now sounds like they're just enhancing it with studio trickery, and the drumming and all that doesn't sound right. Even the singing you can tell is robotic.

He's hot too, isn't he? And there's two versions of him to love. The US version and the German version.
