How many of you have lost a parent?

How did you deal with that?

I've lost Grandparents... it was hard... but I don't know what I would do if I lost a parent.

No, thank God, I didn't have to deal with losing a parent.
I did lose an uncle who was like my father all these years, when my real dad was away.
You don't get over it, you just learn to deal with it.

Lost Both Of Mine Years Ago.

They Had Me Very Late In Life.

Mum Had Problems Conceiving, And There Were No Special Programs

    Like I.V.F Back Then.

They Waited Many Long Years For Me.

But The Wait Was Worth It.

    They Ended Up With "Perfection"....:D.:D.:D.:D.

    Cheers Glen.

it would be great mind fuck but when a child is born it also has to die one day and the sadnes of loosing a parent is just an ilusion i think tough i know that it would hit me hard i think. My grand mother passed away this summer doctors didn't even knew where did it came from she turned to dust in a year. Today you see her preparing pizzas for the family year after she is bind to the bed dying.

thankfully i haven't lost a parent, and hope that will not happen for a long time yet.

i've now lost all grandparents and i lost my brother two years ago. i coped ok with my grandparents, they were old. my brother cut me up but i've learnt to not dwell on it and to live with it. i rarely think about his death. and i tend to not speak of him much.

My dad passed a couple months before my 16th birthday... I was in foster care at the time. Because of the history with him- which was basically why I was out of the home, I felt a great sense of relief- like a giant weight had been lifted... but that was a facet of the greater fact that I had an enormous journey of growing up ahead of me.

Generally we will outlive our parents and unless we've cut contact with immediate family we'll have to deal with their death.... including knowing for a period of time that they are dying. It's a passage we're all going to take one day. Coming to grips with its inevitability and assuming a role of companionship as they complete their journey and prepare to graduate to a post incarnate dimension... whatever form that will take might help set things into perspective and make it less likely that we ourselves will be dragged too far down by someone else's inevitable process. I think it's part of character building--- getting past such a tremendous loss and being able to move gracefully on.

Don't know if any of that makes sense...

i know they MIGHT. but i hope they DON'T.

there's nothing wrong with feeling like that. it's quite normal not to wish death on people.

Why get attached ? Seriously ? Because they are our parents ad we're human and have feelings ( at least some of us do ). And when you lose someone you love so much, all this empty phrases don't mean anything.

    I don't know about that.

I doubt you lost a parent anyway because no matter how you try to let go and be "detached" you will always miss them badly at some point in your life.
