I went to cslifornia adventure park yesterday. Wore sandals to get through security and the gate but once inside put them in my back pocket. Barefoot over 5 hours in the park then downtown Disney, resturants, bars etc.
San Diego area here. Primarily a barefoot hiker. Little shy about going BF in other public places. Also got talked to a few times by unsupportive management (my girlfriend!) and kinda quit doing it in public. I drive BF and then throw on flip flops at destination. You guys are brave!
Unfortunately that will never happen. She doesn't like going barefoot at all, even at home. No way in heck she would ever dream of going BF in a store or on a trail. She thinks its "dirty", which is absurd, but I don't press it. At least she accepted my BF hiking, and it actually works out okay - I hike slower BF and she is able to keep pace.
No I'm certainly female .....there have never been very many girls on this forum - TBH even some of the girls I've suspected were guys, but never the less I'm real, here, and about (well sometimes ) Shayla x
Barefoot Girl, What has been your experience barefooting around San Diego? Do you go into stores, malls, restaurants, etc? If so, any problems with management? I've talked to a couple of SD barefooters who said they have been confronted in various stores. This was mainly in the north county area. One person backed off going on barefoot in stores after several run ins with managers. The other is more stubborn and started carrying documentation which says he is BF for religious and medical reasons. I was confronted in a small new-agey (is that a word?) trinket store in Solana Beach, a mile from the ocean, by a clerk with purple hair and a nose ring. Okay, I'm eggagerating about the nose ring, but it was the last place I thought I'd be asked to put on shoes "for my safety". My GF was there and flipped out afterwards about how embarassed she was and I needed to stop. After that experience, I gave up BFing in stores. Too much hassle.
I actually live in North County and have never been confronted by anyone. I dont know if its because I'm a woman and some people view it as more exceptable or because my husband is a big intimidating guy. I do get a lot of looks and smile
There was a recent thread about men vs women BF in public - might have been on a BF running forum, or maybe on here, but I forget where I saw it. Anyway, the consenus was that a women going BF in public is kind of cute and even sexy, while a BF guy, especially alone, was perceived as an oddball and maybe even some sort of weirdo. Interesting, but I sort of feel that way too, lol. So having hubby along probably doesn't hurt, but being female is a plus.
I live in the San Diego area as well. North County area. Seems to be lots of people in the area from The area. Maybe enough for a meetup someday. As for the question of problems, I have hardly any. I've gone everywhere from the mall, restaurants, big stores like Wal Mart and never had anything said. I am a singer and I go to bars a lot for Karaoke, sometimes security tries to say something but I have a note from my doctor so they back off. The only places I've had trouble at all was Harras and Rincon casino. But then I don't gamble anyway.
A couple of fun events I attend regularly are the Oceanside Sunset Market and Carlsbad Farmers Market. Both are great for barefoot socializing.
Yeah I've been to both of those. They are fun, especially oceanside that has so many different types of food. Hey if you are ever in Valley Center. Stop By Portinos Italian Restaurant. I am Assistant Manager and have worked to make it a barefoot friendly restaurant. And we have really good food.
