I've recently gotten into the band The Shins and was wondering if anyone could tell me of some bands that sound like them. Thanks.
Check out The Walkmen, Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, Band of Horses. They all have that sort of "indie" sound. Band of Horses' "Cease to Begin" album is incredible, a good start.
Modest mouse and band of horses are ok. I am not a huge fan of American music. But you should checkout the eels. Best album to start with is Shootenanny!
Of Montreal, Ambulance LTD, The Most Serene Republic, even Wilco, all of them have very unique Indie sounds. Nothing sounds exactly like the Shins though so I don't know what you expect to find.
