So I'm stumped on what to read I need some serious advice on what to read !!! Please HELP ! I pretty much will read anything i have an open mind to reading..
I finished The Unnamed by Joshua Ferris a couple months ago. I really liked it, you should check it out.
I´m not a real comic fan, but Persepolis I, II by Marjane Satrapi is one fantastic tragicomic book which I really recommend to everybody.
I just read a book called I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell by Tucker Max, very funny book. I am now reading Marijuana is Safer So Why are We Driving People to Drink? Which is very interesting if you are either a pothead or drinker or both. I also recommend How to Build a Time Machine if you're into science, and The Alphabet of Manliness by Maddox if you like satire and fratire humor.
SLAUGHTERHOUSE-FIVE by kurt vonnegut read that book its wonderful. Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance. electric kool aid acid test brave new world
It is indeed... and also on a similar theme - Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. Any novel by Phil Rickman [they may not all be available in the States].
Here are some of my favorites: A Clockwork Orange <-- my favorites! 1984 <-- Animal Farm (a pretty easy read) The Picture of Dorian Gray (great if your into art and philosophy) Brave New World Not sure if this is what you like, I'm a huge fan of the classics myself. Happy reading!
I'm reading The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver for the 3rd time....I read it for the first time when I was 18 and it really opened my eyes to the fucked up things our government does....its really an incredible book.
Cannery Row, by John Steinbeck. May seem dated to some, but it's not really. With the economic mess we are in and the wars going on it's actually pretty appropriate. Besides it's a fun read for the summer. The guys in this book were hip before anyone knew what "hip" was.
I've read most of Steinbecks' novels and enjoyed them all. Grapes of Wrath is one of my all time favorites. The Okies came right to the area I grew up in and I went to school with many in the 40's. The movie is a classic.
Tortilla Flat was a touching movie. I read the long valley but it's been so long ago I forget the story. Both you mentioned ,I also liked.
anything by jon krakaur (i'm pretty sure we both mispelled that lol) is incredible. My favorite by him is Into Thin Air. He went on an everest expedition to write an article for outdoor magazine, and it turned out to be the deadliest season on record so he wrote a book about it. He also wrote a book called Under the Banner of Heaven, which is about the Mormans. He is such a great journalist in a world where journalistic integrity is virtually nonexistant now.
Lol yeh thats a tough one to spell, youve inspired me to read the other books he done now, i stopped at into the wild, dont know why because i loved it. Not an avid reader though tbh i do enough reading online lol but jon whats is face is defo good and owe it to myself to read his other books i think the one about everest looks good
Its great, his style of writing just draws you in to where you feel like you're on mt everest experiencing the extreme temps and peril right along with him...I went camping when I was in the middle of reading that book and it ended up snowing while we were camping, got down in the single digits that night, and when I returned from the trip I had to wait a few weeks to finish reading that book because his descriptions made me feel so cold and brought back horrible flashbacks of freezing on the camping trip haha
