Hello all. I have been smoking pot for 2 years(1 year habitually) I am a junior in highschool as of today and recently got busted by my parents(wasn't the first time) and now have to answer to random drugtests. I do have plans of college and trying to become something with my life but man I sure do love the reefer and as I'm told Highschool is the best time of your life and it seems to me like I can't live it to the fullest without the plant. I do love my parents though and will respect what they have to say and try my hardest to stay away from it for another two years while I am under there roof but in the past 2 years my life has transformed so much in sense of friends and so forth and I know that they sure as hell aren't going to quit. What I am asking you guys is have you ever had to quit for a period of time, how hard was it, and how did you cope? I always enjoy listening to other peoples stories especially when they make me feel like I'm not really in that bad of a situation.:sunny:

The first few days are the hardest. But once you get past that you don't think about it much. It's a mental habit. Try to take a long walk everyday, exercise will help to clear your system and change your habits. Just because you like smoking does not mean you are addicted. People who go to things like MA are just weak IMO. People get "addicted" to world of Warcraft and things like that too yet there is no chemical causing this. Humans like pleasure, it's that simple. But pot is not addictive compared to something like nicotine or heroin. It's just a matter of will power.

i never felt like a needed weed, i enjoy it but if its not there its no big deal.
i would guess that i am a functioning alcoholic thought and i was forced to quit for 6 months. i did have one beer half way inbetween but it was only because that was the only thing i had to drink besides tap water with my dinner, didnt get a buzz and didnt drink again till my time was up. how did i do it? i just didnt buy it. if its not there then it cant be used. and weed is harder to come by then beer, its not like there is a weed section in the store when you go to buy bread. so thats it just dont go where it is for a couple years and when you do happen to be near it, just pass the spliff to the next person, there will be plenty and plenty of time to get high later on.
i also cut my drinking on my own one time to once a week on the weekdays and once on the weekends and i would leave holidays as exemptions. that was actually harder because i would rationalize on what was a holiday. oh its arbor day i can drink today. or its a birthday its not a holiday but special occasions count the same as holidays.
i say if you want to follow your parents rule then dont half ass it, just avoid the stuff for a little while and when your 18 and out of school then do whatever you want.

The only time I miss it is when Im playing Madden haha.. I smoked for like 7 or 8 years with a couple probation stints, but Im not smoking anymore. No reason really. I always loved weed but its actually pretty overrated. Living life to the fullest has nothing to do witg weed

Okay I did exaggerate when I said living life to the fullest but what I meant is that everything kind of is better when your stoned but I still plan to make the most out of my life regardless.

Your still in high school, you have a long life ahead of you. Maybe there will be a time when pot fits better into your life. A time when you are on your own and your parents opinions don't really matter anymore.

I think you making a good choice to follow your parent's guidance. You are very wise to focus on your education first. BTW I've been clean and sober since last March....it has set me free. Just stay positive. Your true friends will understand and respect your decision Good luck.

I had to quit for 12 years while in the Navy. It wasn't that difficult because no one I hung around did those types of things. I had to change my whole lifestyle, actually, and I'm a better person for it today. Since I am no longer employed where I am subject to drug testing, I blaze LOTS. It's all about priorities in life and the choices you make. Make a choice and live with it.

I went from smoking everyday for 2 years to going without for 2 years. It's not that hard, it just sucks from time to time.

I quit for 2.5 years once. Was smoking about a QP per week and quit cold turkey for 2.5 years. I have not had any in 3 months now (waiting for it). I really miss it (medically).

I went a year without weed, felt great. The clarity i suddenly felt was awesome but then i started smoking again. I have to say it is a good thing to pass time but it's such a worthless drug by society's standards. Sure it holds medical value but for personal refinement it's nothing too groundbreaking.

I need it medicinally too but I doubt they'd ever believe it.
Besides, I have reservations about putting my name on a goddamn list for the feds of known users of a scheduled one drug.
As it is, I think I'll just stick with the underground.

I haven't smoked in 7 months because I'm preggers. If you think it's hard now try quitting when you're perpetually stressed out about the future and dealing with whacked out hormones and constant nausea.

Smoking isn't really that great for the developing brain, and high school really isn't the best time of your life. You'll still be young enough to enjoy life and smoking when you turn 18.

I had a lot of fun times smoking in high school but I quit my senior year, got my ass in gear, pulled my grades up and weeded out some shady friends. My hiatus then was a good thing. You'll get through it and it will be waiting for you in college.

Need to appreciate being sober, and realize weed will always be there for you. It can be just as fun being sober, and your time spent with sobriety is just a chapter in your life before the next chapter where you're high as balls again.

The first day is usually awesome. My energy usually rebounds from weeks of being so stoned I can barely move. Its the days after that that suck...when everything just becomes dull.

If I were you I'd just smoke with friends every once in a while. You might be able to get away with passing a couple drug tests, and then your parents get lazy with it and a smoke here and there won't hurt.

And there's always dehydrated piss. I got a kit that lets me pass employment drug testing. It cost $40, but really all you need is a small plastic vial/beaker, a heating pad from REI, and some dehydrated clean piss from a headshop. That's really what I would do, as a silent way of telling them its my life and they can fuck off.

Cause when you move out it'll be all about responsibility, and all jobs require drug testing. Smoking weed is really something to do when you're young, and you should be able to enjoy it.

That's how I've always been. Be smart, and what they don't know won't hurt them.
