I have a friend that was in one. He's up here with me in Connecticut. She wound up in Georgia because of her father's job. When he graduates high school he's planning on going down there.

Neither of them are happy about it. He went from being a guy who I didn't know had a phone to a guy who's attached to it at the hip.

I don't think it's healthy, personally, but if that's what you wanna do, go for it.

I have been in a few from time to time. They are very hard to keep going. But if both people are very motivated, they can work.

I was in a long distance relationship for 2 years on and off with a a girl I thought I was gonna marry, which is strange because I never really believed in marriage before. She lived two states away but i spent every summer out there. the thing that ended it was that she cheated and got pregnant and didn't tell me till she was 5 months pregnant. I believe that long distance relationships work as long as both party's give it their all and no one looses faith in their feelings for one another.

I had a long distance relationship for 2 years while my boyfriend was in college out of town, while I stayed at community college. I think this is great that you reached out. The most important part for me is a real honest connection and not only a connection via Facebook or long distance. Get to know each other one on one. And, be honest. Young love is hard. Know that it might not work out for the best, but every day is an experience and building block to your future with your husband. To be honest - when my relationship with my boyfriend started to go south, I learned to cook really well. He hung on for a while longer... so maybe (if you can't already) learn to cook while it's still good and he'll be extremely happy! Just a thought. Good luck!

I'm currently in a wonderful, albeit long distance, relationship with someone I consider to be my soulmate. We've been in this relationship for about two years despite the thousands of miles between us. The most challenging aspect for us at this time is the time difference, because we've remained strongs and always made sure to communicate well. Instant messaging and webcam chats, and various things that a couple can do together online(watching movies together, play games together, stuff like that) definitely help. We're super compatible with each other by default though, so I think that's another one of the main reasons why we've been successful with this relationship so far.

I'll be visiting her in her country this summer which will be our first time actually meeting for real in the physical sense. Needless to say, we're both looking forward to it quite a bit. I do have one concern that, once we've met face-to-face and spent some time together, it might become so much harder to go back to the solely internet-based means of communication. Although, I also believe in our relationship strongly enough that I feel confident we'll get through these possible hurdles in the future. :)

Currently I'm in a 2 y/o long distance relationship with a wonderful person. This is actually the 3rd time I've been in this situation but I learned from my mistakes in the past. We will finally meet in june and I will be meeting her 2 kids also, it will be such a new experience in so many ways but I'm confident in our love for each other. It takes much effort to make this things work, it's not for everyone
