Cantor's paradox (a paradox in set theory) Russell's paradox (also a paradox in set theory) Burali-Forti's paradox ('what is the ordinal number of the series of all ordinal numbers?')
"Something that is not itself" this is an analytic proposition, that does not need to be proven. It is self determinant. But in this case, also a paradox. To make u see what paradox is like:
Very neat with the picture, it took me a few seconds of looking at it to understand what is going on, but now realize it is the waterfall powering itself. Very neat indeed.
The liar said 'I am a liar'. Or infact pretty much anything involving time travel often called the temporal paradox. oing back in time to kill a parent is a good logical paradox.
"If I could go back, and change my past to make THIS time better, I would". If so, WHY would you need to make THIS time better? It already would be by what you did when you went back.
A paradox is defined as; a statement which seems to contradict itself or to conflict with common sense but which contains. Indeed a couple of the above listed contradictory statements are used when introducing the temporal paradox in special relativity.
Except the Twins paradox can be resolved, thus negating it as an actual paradox. The logically unresolvable sentences above have no resolution as far as I know. I believe that taking into account the fact that the traveller is not in the same inertial reference frame resolves the paradox. I believe that this has been tested by experiment, by using particles accelerated in a magnetic fields to speeds where gamma > 1.
#1. Sentence #2 is true. #2. Sentence #1 is false. Not sure if that counts, but it's a mind bender anyways. There's these too http://www.jimloy.com/logic/logic.htm
Thought itself is a paradox as thought brings about desire, and desire brings about a repetition of thought, which in turn is thought about, and then desired to be thought again, which could bring new thought, and so forth. Thought never achieves its goal, for thought always distorts the truth and the truth is what we strive to understand with our thoughts.
Quite a few are covered here. I've always liked Zeno's Paradoxes, and some months back I read that someone had published something resolving them to the satisfaction of many in that field, but I've not yet tracked it down for a look-see.
Yeah, I love the beer mugs that do this It makes it look like beer is coming out of a levitating keg tap and pouring into a mug lol
