I know many people who are always tellin me i should "live for the moment"...or "worry about today, today-tomorrow, tomorrow"....I know these people mean well, but this stuff annoys the hell out of me. If we havent got a future, what have we got? If people "lived for the moment" and never planned for or worried about tomorrow, we would have already killed ourselves off by now. Its this kind of mentality that helps to create obesity, selfishness, alcohol problems, drug addiction, greenhouse gasses, litter, new cars, new houses...a lot of us, in the process of living in today, are killing tomorrow. Life flows forwards, its never in stasis...i want the world to be beautiful for people in 100, 200, 1000 years time. Why cant we live in the present, and live in the future aswell? I manage it:| Anyway, rant over. Phew, needed to let that one be known Love-Maxi.Xx
Admittedly i live in tomorrow most of the time:S I cant help it. Whenever i have an experience, im never really there, livin it. Its more like im up above somewhere, observin. Weird:-S Xx
living for the moment is the best way to live only if an individual has already eliminated their expectations and desires....but few can achieve such a comfort level in our western world these days.
hmm.. I dunno. I'm making the attempt to live in the moment more. I think people get in that fast lane when they're trying to establish themselves. Time speeds by and they don't bother to take time to appreciate the small things life has to offer. Most often, those are the things we should treasure most..
I think there is a time to live in the moment and a time not to. Getting married? Motha ****a' you need to plan, you need to set dates, and you need to invite people. At the bachelor party with strippers dancing all over you? Live in the moment, and by god live it up while you still can before you have your wife dragging your ass around. ....sorry i got carried away.
Sometimes living for the moment can leave you completely devastated and empty the next minute. Sometimes doing so becomes a source for pleasant memories... Choosing carefully the moment to live for is what matters!!!
Its alright to live for the moment. But you have to realize that eventually, the moment's going to change, and if you screwed up in the past, then you just might be fucked. I try not to get too stuck on the future, though. I'd rather have fun now and regret it later than have a shitty time now and regret it later.
I try to live one day at a time. That doesn't mean I don't make plans. I just have to remember that I have no control over the future. It's not here yet. I can't control something that doesn't yet exist. When I make plans I know that anything could happen between now and then. By living one day at a time when plans don't go as I want I can much better accept and adapt.
yeh see people who say 'live for the moment' forget that you still need to learn from the past, and in many cases, somehwat prepare for the future. but most good sayings are misinterpreted by people who want to justify their recklessness
It would take me three hours and seven minutes (i know exacly because ive done it) to express all of the things i feel on this subject. But ill just leave it by saying that I agree with newo.
People are simple just identified with who they are from their experiences. including me we have be come disconnect the formlessness of our true being. living completely in a imaginary "past and future" for when you live there Nothing REAL is actually happening.. all your doing is simply not accepting where you are in the now and in this moment... living for the moment means to present every step of your way but when you have a goal or something you want to strive towards don get caught up in the future and the out come of your product (meaning don’t seek the future for your fulfillment) the future wont make you happy you have to accept and embrace the now, no matter how scary it is. When you present you don’t through away your life and forget about the future.. you simply don’t dwell on the future nor the past. (THIS is the root of all suffering and fear) Now i cannot tell you to live in the now for i have not mastered it my self, but i do make a conciouse effort. (you have to be that change)
im gonna repropose that you must remember the past in order to learn, and since the future will become the present, and you can somewhat control the future, directing youreself into a future, and thus a present which is more desireable than your current state is obviously gonna be a fine idea. if you fear the past or future then its a personal problem, however if you do it properly, its only a good thing.
its as simple as investment. you putaside assets here and there in order to have more assets all up. you can enrich your present by spending some time amongst it all learning from the past, and considering about the future
Living for the Now, is living in the Now ... is being in the Now ... ? ... is about the awareness of who and what we are beyond the time frames of past, present, future and parallel worlds not ready to be manifested. They still are all parts of the Now. But how much of ourselfes are we ready to give into it ... and this is Now. And even if we make plans, we still make them Now. It is where change takes place. It is the arena of immidiate experience. To live in the Now is to be aware that we create it as well. It maybe just means to not judge, rate, measure and divide. I thought we all live but in the Now anyway
living for the moment is something that i cannot do. I'm always thinking ahead, i cant help it. i often get really anxious about it.
