Living aboard..

Anyone else interested in doing such? Or am I alone in my fascination with it..? Personally I think it would be great fun. Be like a nomad in a way.

Hell, I'd even build my own boat to do it.

 

I was born to be a nomad, I have felt the need to wander since I can remember, movement is in my bones if not my blood, it is ingrained deeper than the deepest parts of my soul, I must move, wander, explore, see the world for myself, with my own two eyes, understand the whole scope of this terrestrial reality

 

Ferro concrete boats, they sound badass, get one of those, a WVO bus an ultralight and a hang glider and you could go anywhere......

 

Haha I'm not really into the ferro cement. If I built my own it would likely be wood/fiberglass..

 

Eek fibreglass, nasty, fast, but pain to work with, as for wood, very nice, time tested, floats independant of structure, and easyish to work with, not to mention pretty as hell

 

Yeah I really like wood, but building a boat in the traditional manner could be really difficult and time consuming.. I wouldn't actually make a fiberglass boat, but a wood one with some sort of fiberglass coating. Lots of different methods, so I suppose it depends on the design.. Anyway, this is a nice looking design I think. The junk would make it a lot simpler to handle, and it's fairly spacious and such for it's size.

 

have you looked at dhaos? very old design (olde = simple, usually ) very effiecient (sp?) {so much so that they are still in widespread use today} and they are supposedly easy to sail, I know very little about sailing myself so I couldn't attest to that but I heard it from someone who I feel has a reasonable amount of sense.

It was dhow. They look interesting, but there isn't a whole lot of info on them.

england is an absolute shithole to live in.....

i plan on going back to Africa in a couple of years....maybe moving on from there maybe not.....one thing i'm sure on is i'll NEVER live in britain again
