is anyone as sick as i am of people just throwing there rubbish on the ground?
i'm sick of my friends opening their food and throwing the wrapping on the ground even though there is a bin 2m away.
and then they just laugh and say that's what cleaners are for. do they not realise that the world wouldnt need these cleaners if we all did our bit?
any suggestions how i can convince them to put their rubbish in the bin?

Kick them in the shins? It worked on my friends. I got fed up and just kinda kicked him in the leg 'till he picked it up...

I would just tell them that littering is filthy habit, and I prefer friends that appreciate the environment and respected their school or community, and then walk away.

We had a situation like that at the college I attended in the sixties. A group of students banded together and monitored the campus on their lunch hours and breaks. We went around picking up litter and reminding other students that this was their college, and it reflected badly on them also for it to be littered with garbage. Only took about a month and things cleaned up.

Hey, I am sick of it as well. I used to live in a house that was along the highway, and nothing irked me more than seeing people rolling down their car windows and throwing their trash out onto the highway. It then blew into my yard, and my family and I would be stuck cleaning up their messes. I'd rather clean up their messes though than leave it sit there to destroy the earth. Some people will mentally be an infant forever that needs cleaning up after. It's a sad, sad affair, but what can one do? I try reminding everyone I know that leaves their trash all over the place to kindly use the trash bin next to where they are standing. How do they react? They become deeply offended that I would expect them to walk a whole 5 inches to throw a plastic wrapper away. The only thing that you can really do is to keep reminding your friends that if they want their grandchildren of the future to have a clean planet to live in, they should start taking care of it. I hate to tell you, but they're most likely not going to listen, and they will probably continue to laugh. It never hurts to have hope though. Just be glad that you have enough sense to know to do the right thing :) .

i'm still crusading to get my friend's to pick it up. one friend just throws it on the roof. he says our school is a hole anyway so why not. i've managed to convince him to pick it up if he drops it on the ground, but then it just ends up on the roof. i sort-of get the feeling he is trying to get a reaction out of me. i really don't know.
but i have, with much persistence, convinced a few ppl to stop littering so that's a good thing

that's cool. i wish i had a car to follow someone lol. i hate seeing the beautiful country covered in rubbish. its so sad and such a violation of our planet. i try my hardest to make ppl pick it up though. but i still feel it's not enough when i see the amount of rubbish still around though.
