List guitarists you think are underrated. My first nomination goes to Curt Kirkwood of Meat Puppets. His understated yet at times exuberant mix of country and hard rock never ceases to capture my imagination. Here is an example of his incendiary soloing which appears at the end of the song:
Neil Schon of Journey. Perhaps underrated in part due to the direction the band went in when Steve Perry joined.
johnny marr of the smiths prince robert smith of the cure special mention to jackson c frank because i love his guitar playing. whilst not the best ever, his songwriting was awesome and he is underrated and deserves a mention somewhere
This is embarrassing but ... John Mayer is actually a really good guitarist As a douche bag singer/song writer he is way overrated But as a guitarist, he's pretty underrated
