Not just an old story, there used to be Sambo's the restaurant! They had illustrations from the book all over, and the food was themed abit to match. It was like Dennys or Ihop, but I guess it didnt survive the politically correct decade of the 1980s! hahaha

oh luv, you opened a real can of worms with that book!

yeah, my sister and i both love that book to no end! of course, that was back in the late 1950's and early 1960's.
the both of us also, loved to eat at 'coon country inn' too (yes, there really was a restaurant chain by that name back then!)
i even lived down the street from a coffee shop called sambo's.
even when i was in high school, in the 1970's; in english class we all had to read a book entitled "ten little niggers." ms. christy could get away with a title like that back in the 1920's to even up to the mid 1970's in some parts of the southern u.s.a. where i went to an all white high school.
anyone, dumb enough to pull that type of shit today, would be dog meat right away!
i'm glad things have change and for the better too in that respect!

your quite correct that "little black sambo" is not pc.

This book is a guilty pleasure of mine, not because of the political incorrectness, but because of the fact that I read it a few days ago online and thought it was AWESOME :D

Definitely a good children's book, really original.
