Lights too hot?

I recently got a basic set up in my closet...250W hps lamp in a 2 by 2 foot space ann have at the moment 4 skunk no.1 seeds germinated an have been planted...

my problem is this...it gets REALY hot im not sure how hot but its makin th plastic containers give off like a horibble smell an it keeps dryin up the soil! however i really dont want to over water my plants but it get hard to tell wether the soil is dry due to the heat

is it normal for the grow room to be hot? will this sum how hinder my plants? or am i just bein over cautious cause its my first plants

 

You need a active air system,one that includes a exhaust of hot air as well as a intake for fresh air,250's dont put off that much heat so you should get under control fairly easily.HEAT KILLS
