I guess I can start it. How about alien origin UFOs? Or Jesus' virgin birth and resurrection. Then there's the lies we tell our children. Easter bunny, Santa Claus. Your country (whatever it is) is the "greatest country on earth. Anyone can make a living on Tik Tok. Heaven is some real place up in the sky. Hell.
The santa claus one is just for the little ones to think there is some wonderful magic in the world---up until they start realizing how messed up the world of grown ups can be.
that humans are incapable of not messing up their world is just as much the lie, as that we can do anything we want, without consideration for others, without doing so. that anything has to exist any more, nor less then anything can't. this includes the non-physical, nor the unknown owing anything to what people tell each other to pretend. up in the sky, no, but other universes are possible. just again, owing nothing to what we tell each other to pretend we know, because others long ago wrote books or scratched on rocks. the certainty of anything other then the unknown being unknown. the consistently observable is as reliable as anything gets though. that anything is more certain because it was written or illustrated a long time ago, or the longer ago the better, yes, that is a self deception. it isn't that there can't be wonderful magic in this or any world, that's not the lie that there can, its just that being more likely what people think they know about it, or that its written in some book, that's the part that contradicts the observable diversity of reality. that there are ANY "good" ideologies. even those which dominate the history or present time of whatever country one is living in. that it is always good to make there be more humans. that all economic development increase is good and benefits everybody or the diversity of life. that we live in a universe that was created for the sole purpose of being a backdrop for one species on one planet in one solar system in one galaxy that just happens to be our own.
