what? our system in Canada is based on the rule of law, the constitution - the fundamental laws & principles that normally govern the operation of a state (or association) by defining the powers & functions of its institution(s). Our governmental system has three functions: 1. make law (legislature) 2. execute law (executive) 3. ajudicate law (Judicial) We have a democratic parliamentary system, a federation of provinces with a working central government. Socialists are support the principles: equality of condition, equality of opportunity, and social democracy. A Liberal state offers you more choices, but not necessarily what you want -- freedom. I believe in a regulated and interventional goverment. I think a system should promote public ownership and public control. That is what I consider a socialist system.
the parliamentry system is not a good one, but one socialists seem to be intent on keeping. it gives too much power to certain individuals. the marxists have it right. id like to see a federalized marxist society ran by workers councils, with elements of democratic centralism tied in
the parliamentry system does not hand power over to the workers, which to me, is the most important thing
hahahahahaa. Are you f*cking serious?? Layton and Chow first lived in a federally subsidized housing co-operative, despite their incomes. Then they bought a house in the Chinatown district in Toronto and moved Chow's mother in with them. They still live there. He's always biked everywhere for years. Exigencies of office maybe? Wouldn't want to get stuck somewhere if there was a rush late night vote, etc. Please prove to me that the man owns 3 cars. The NDPs have made 6 budgets of their own for the past 6 years and have used their budgets to influence, negotiate and pass bills effectively against Liberal rule and Conservative opposition. Layton's not a phony. I recall pictures of his homestead reported on CBC news - it was under construction - so it was under a large tarp, but I don't recall it resembling a 'mansion'.
Most liberals are do-gooders unknowingly playing into the hands of the system, while most so-called conservatives aren't conservatives at all, thus, they are also playing into the hands of the system. It's all about control and command - divide and rule. Both seem to believe that government is God and should be granted unlimited power. They simply believe the government should be granted power in different ways. In the end, it's all the same. It's funny that liberals and conservatives make enemies of each other, when it's all really just a distraction from looking at the big picture. The fact that people actually argue over who is right and who is wrong plays right into the hands of the system, because everyone is too busy fighting amongst themselves to ask the real questions. Keep in mind it is the very system you think you're rebelling against that created these labels you insist on clinging to. Rather, they manipulated them into what they are today, which is far different from what they were originally. Frankly, I am leary of anyone who goes around referring to themselves as "liberals" or "conservatives." Most of these people are trapped within their own little box, refusing to look beyond the false paradigm of Left and Right. I think the quote above my sig says it all.
I disagree. I think there is still a choice for some people. And for the record, Alex Jones is kinda cool in my books - just a little nutty. Nothing wrong with a little peanut butter.
The people? Which ones? The greedy, the crazy, the theif, the pro war, the communist, the anarchist, the captilist? The phrase "the people" is a vauge one. Before you even think about this govrement we'd have to define "the people" because "the people" are running this country with every election we make and every person in a squad car.
the people are all the working people of the world (and in my ideal society (i say my, but it's marx really) there wouldnt be any bosses etc).
Working people? Everyone works from the drunk'n construction worker too the greedy business man. See thats the problem with that there is not a unversial "people standard".
greedy business man? well, there wouldnt be no greedy business man if the industry was nationalised and ran by the workers there.
