If we all make videos like this, the word would get out. Take a look and please make your own. Once people see what a diversified group we are, the government will want to act. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hc5wGuaoe0Y
I'm gonna start a revolution from my bed Cause you said the brains I had went to my head Step outside Summertime's in bloom Stand up beside the fireplace Take that look from off your face Cause you aint ever gonna burn my heart out This might be an unpopular view, but I don't think legalization of psychedelics is a good idea. The fact that they're illegal is almost a kind of perseverence test... if you're not willing to do something that society says is wrong and dangerous, to do your own research to find out the truth, and to intentionally inject yourself into the psychedelic culture, you probably can't handle the experience. It is absolutely ridiculous that there are people in prison for psychedelic possesion and manufacturing, but I don't think total transparency and availability would be a very good thing when it comes to this. I think the best thing we can do is work hard at being a living example of the beautiful, intelligent, conscious, respectful possibility that psychedelics show us. And send out signals through art, so the roadmaps are there for the people who truly want to take the journey. Almost all of us here got to this point that way, through movies, books, paintings, music, whatever it was. Everyone is aware psychedelics exist, but only a few are captivated by them and are devoted enough to the path to take them. I know sometimes I've wished I'd never touched psychedelics, because you really take on more than you could ever anticipate once you do. They completely change your entire world in ways that you might not even fully grasp until years later. There are already too many people taking "drugs" and not knowing what they're getting themselves into. Misinformation is dangerous in all forms... False paranoia, and naive carelessness. If you look around, there are psychedelic people and psychedelic ideas in positions of power all over. Most people just don't realize it.
people talk about an impending change, a revolution, a new paradigm, 2012, blas se blas. yet very few are really trying to change anything. this has to be a huge collective effort, on the part of the individual to help create a future worth striving for. and forget legalizing psychedelics, there are bigger fish to fry right now. shit is really about to hit the fan environmentally with huge mass extinctions looming on the horizon for thousands of species, rampant pollution, and greed taking the forefront of environmental decisions in corporations and corrupt nations. what am i personally doing about it? finishing my degree in Chemical Engineering so that i can further the research in hydrogen fuel cell technology and other electrochemical means of extracting energy from natural and renewable sources. everyone has to play a small, albeit significant part. society can only advance as a collective whole. if only a few members share a semi-enlightenment the rest have to be accounted for. we need to spread ideas, attitudes, and technologies that promote the expansion of global awareness and the creation of a massive effort to help preserve our planet's natural balance.
Excellent point and very well said, might I add. I respect all opinions because I know I am only one of 6.3 billion... However, my point is simply one based on the Constitution of the United States. We should be free to make these choices for ourselves. In regards to your point - I sort of agree. Before I started believing fully in G-d, I took a strange pride in the fact that I was willing to break the law for my views. But in the Orthodox world, there are so many misconceptions about these substances and how they can enhance your life. I want my new friends to come along for the ride. May G-d Almighty bless you in everything that you need.
This is very forward thinking and brilliant. It is minds like yours that will save us from ourselves. We are living longer and longer and really need to start considering our actions on a global level. May G-d Almighty bless you in your research and may you merit to help save and cleanup this planet! Did you know that according to Jewish law (a guy called the Rambam) you can't even waste a mustard seed! He was a huge conversationalist.
damn prismatism, that is an extremely good point. never really thought of it like that. but you are so right. questing is also right though... we should have a right to our freedoms.
While I admire that and try to exercise it in my daily life, one must also remember that some opinions one encounters are based in darkness and ignorance.
Look, if this was Communist Russia, lock me up and throw away the key. But there was a large group of founding fathers called the anti-federalists who did not want to ratify the Constitution as is was because of the gross limits on personal freedom. They had come from a monarchy, for crying out loud. They only agreed once the other side agreed to ratify it with the first 10 amendments included. Later, this is what became known as the Bill of Rights. I think Storing wrote the short book, "What the Anti-Federalists Were For" Good for a short read...
It's true, but I find that unless I delve into the darkness of their psyches, I don't understand my position as clearly. Light can come from darkness. When someone really questions you and pushes all your buttons, you realize how you really feel in life. And this is invaluable as it leads to true growth and development. I didn't know how Jewish I was until Christian missionaries threatened me with eternal damnation.
I like the way you think man The only problem I can see with legalizing psychedelics is the fact that there are lots of people who would do them for no spiritual reason, just to get jacked up or whatever. They would probably end up doing stupid stuff, blaming it on psychedelics, and then they would get an even worse reputation than they have now.
Thanks for the kind words. See, I feel once the taboo is removed, people will only use these things for spiritual purposes, not to revolt against their parents or the government. Amsterdam is a great example of this. No one makes a big deal of smoking week over there. But you might be right. Until it happens, we won't know for sure. But I would love to find out... May G-d Almighty bless you in everything that you do.
I have to agree with CannbisSoul. Weed is not the same as LSD or mushrooms. Nobody really looses control on weed . . . but give some 18 year old jock guido asshat 500 mics and that might cause some serious problems, if not just for him. I propose a middle path: Legalized, but controlled. Perhaps even requiring a perscription. How one gets a perscription is another debate, but some beginning proposals: depressed people, drug addicts, anxiety stricken people, etc. Age restriction: 21. If caught with psychedelic under age or without perscription, forced community service for length of time based on amount caught with.
you know mushrooms are about to be banned again in amsterdam... after too many deaths associated with reckless use they are just going to ban them outright.
I have never understood why as a society we play down to the lowest common denominator. If a few people can't make good choices in life, why does the rest of society have to life with gross restrictions on their personal freedoms? If we anyhow believe people can be rehabilitated, why not let us live as free beings and hope that people who make bad decisions will simply learn from their mistakes?
