If cannabis is completely legalized, will that affect the price of other drugs? I have to believe it will in some way, since crime organizations will have to make money some other way. I can't decide if it if will lower prices so as to compete with the loss of cannabis profits, or raise them since police enforcement will likely focus more on other "harder" drugs. What do you guys think?
Cannabis is very profitable compared to other drugs. Most drugs that come from plants require a huge amount of plant matter and chemicals extremely difficult to acquire. Cannabis simply doesn't ship over seas well. Hash ships well, but the overseas producers don't make bubble hash or other concentrates. It takes tons of coca to make cocaine, fields of poppies to make heroin. $10 seed can yeild an endless schedule of clones. Outdoors is where he profits are. Nobodies growing fields yet. It's all high yeilding plants and not rows and rows of hash plants. If the U.S. Was a 3rd world country with cheap labor, we'd be exporting the finest hash and concentrates for a huge profit. That is given that laws would allow such an active industry. I don't think legal cannabis affects other drugs prices, unless people profit so much they can start other drug production projects.
I think pharmaceuticals will still sell well. That's what uncle Sam is more worried about. They fear we will be hippies that don't want our meds. There is already a debate about vaccines so why wouldn't they fear more about people not wanting to take their meds....and just go all natural cure.
