Maybe a commune is not what I need, but maybe it is. I'm hoping to leave home soon because I need to be anywhere but here, and I was thinking of heading for the east coast, most likely the New York area. But I need to find a place I can stay. I have a friend in Connecticut, but I can't stay there very long. I can really go anywhere in the country, though. Any ideas? It doesn't have to be permanent, either. I just need a place to sleep while I figure out where I'm headed.

I have no job, my family hates, me, and I essentially have no local attachments, except some friends that aren't very close anyway. I have no reason to stay here and plenty of reason to go looking for a better place.

The other problem is figuring out how to get there because I don't drive, but I'll work that out.

Uh... it's called going on the road hitchiking with your backpack. It was the obvious next step for me at 18, and you can do it pretty much penniless, even in Europe.

Right, that was the plan. I figure getting around is the easy part. The hard part is figuring out where to go and what to do.

Thanks, though I honestly don't know what that means. Well, I do, but not in a way that helps me.

Anyway, I'm thinking of heading to Lothlorien first and then figuring out what to do from there. I'm a little confused about how things work there, though.

Hey, I am leaving Niagara Falls Feb 1/09, going west from there to Edmonton Alberta. Not too far from Vancouver B.C., which is very close to Seattle, wanna go for the ride? I think you would LOVE it in Canada :) No need to worry about gas money or hotels or even food, it's on me :) Just a thought, might help you to regain your thoughts, without having to worry about too much ya know? :) Shout back if you're interested. Cheers,
    Rich

Thanks for the offer. I would so much love to go. Unfortunately, I won't be going anywhere soon because I've let myself get talked into going back to school for another try.

I don't know why I bother. It always starts out well and ends up poorly. But honestly, my decision to leave was made rather hastily. This will give me a chance to consider again, though I'm sure I'll end up going somewhere, one way or the other. And then I'll be better prepared.

im in the same boat, just a different age. I can only wish you the best. I too will be leaving on a long adventure, perhaps we may cross paths.
