Maybe a commune is not what I need, but maybe it is. I'm hoping to leave home soon because I need to be anywhere but here, and I was thinking of heading for the east coast, most likely the New York area. But I need to find a place I can stay. I have a friend in Connecticut, but I can't stay there very long. I can really go anywhere in the country, though. Any ideas? It doesn't have to be permanent, either. I just need a place to sleep while I figure out where I'm headed. I have no job, my family hates, me, and I essentially have no local attachments, except some friends that aren't very close anyway. I have no reason to stay here and plenty of reason to go looking for a better place. The other problem is figuring out how to get there because I don't drive, but I'll work that out.
Uh... it's called going on the road hitchiking with your backpack. It was the obvious next step for me at 18, and you can do it pretty much penniless, even in Europe. Joshua

Thanks, though I honestly don't know what that means. Well, I do, but not in a way that helps me. Anyway, I'm thinking of heading to Lothlorien first and then figuring out what to do from there. I'm a little confused about how things work there, though.

Thanks for the offer. I would so much love to go. Unfortunately, I won't be going anywhere soon because I've let myself get talked into going back to school for another try. I don't know why I bother. It always starts out well and ends up poorly. But honestly, my decision to leave was made rather hastily. This will give me a chance to consider again, though I'm sure I'll end up going somewhere, one way or the other. And then I'll be better prepared.
