I really want to learn Spanish. An abundant majority of my co-workers and customers are Puerto-Rican. They often resort to using their native tongue. I would like to be able to communicate and joke around with them in Spanish. I've looked into Rossetta Stone, word-link, and rocketspanish. What's the best method to learn in a reasonable amount of time?
Thanks. I am around a tremendous amount of Spanish-speaking people at work, so I hope after trying one of these programs, after a reasonable amount of time, I can become fluent in Spanish. http://www.unforgettablelanguages.com/frames_a1.html http://www.Rosettastone.com
There are some awesome resources for free on the web...google SPALEON and you'll find a good site. www.spaleon.com. There are interactive tests and a lot of good material.
First word you should learn in Spanish = Hijo de Puta no tengo suficiente dinero para pagar el ......... .
Hi Kal, I have been where you are. I began learning Spanish in night school as I wanted to teach English in Latin America so wanted to be able to communicate a bit. I made a one year plan: I saved money and really went all out to learn as much Spanish as possible. I never made it to South America, but ended up loving Spanish so much I studied it at university. Here is my first piece of advice.... you can achieve a lot in a relatively short period of time, but do not be suckered into buying any system that makes aggressive promises like "learn Spanish in 2 months" etc. You can achieve a lot in 2 months but it requires a lot of effort and discipline.... and you will not be anywhere near native speaker level like some schemes imply. If you want to learn quickly, I would say try to get some 1-on-1 lessons. You could either pay for these or you could maybe offer some language exchange with a native speaker... local schools or colleges may be able to help. Try to expose yourself to Spanish in any form: listening to Spanish music and picking up the lyrics/translations on the Internet will help. Some audio/book programmes are very useful, but as I say, set realistic targets and don't believe the hype that publishers spout on front covers. Not trying to be negative here, let me explain. Learning a language is a brilliant thing to do, but if you want to become fluent it will take a lot of time and effort.... but there are rewards along the way. Of course if you just want to be able to communicate a little with Spanish speakers this can be achieved with not so much effort and dedication. Grammar can be a little tricky to learn but anyone can learn words... we all do this everyday in our own language. Consequently, try to learn a bunch of new Spanish words every week (set your own targets). As Warpath states, there are enough resources available on the Web to really help you learn... here are a few: Spanish Vocabulary Learn Spanish Puerto Rican Spanish The best piece of advice I can give is stay with it when it gets tough. To be able to communicate with people in another language will literally open up a whole new world for you. Good luck. P.S. Sorry the post is so long.... I'm very passionate about promoting Spanish! ;O)
I would say the best way to learn is to indulge yourself in it. Unless you want to surprise these coworkers of yours, use it frequently and ask them if you are right. Ask them to correct you! It works well at fast-food places
I wondered how to learn Spanish myself so I could teach my children. I realized that in order to teach them, I would have to know pretty much myself. I came upon Rocket Spanish which is a super program to teach you Spanish. They even have games to help you learn. I highly recommend it. You can go on this guy's website and I believe he has a special running right now that is for a free course to try it out. I love it and am happy I can finally teach my children Spanish easier instead of having to look up every word. Also, it is helpful to have someone to talk directly to that knows Spanish as said by the others. I attached a link to his site so you can check it out if you would like. Hope this was helpful. You can just paste and copy it into the top. http://seipfam.rspanish.hop.clickbank.net/
