I hope I was right to post this thread here! (1) I learned from a dog people asked a sage man : who was your teacher who made you reach this level of knowledge? He replied: once I was walking in a place; I saw a dog sitting on the riversides, he was too weak because he was thirsty, because whenever he wanted to drink from the river he sees himself in the water and thinks that there is another dog in the water, and he escapes from it, but when he became too thirsty and couldn't wait any more, he threw himself in the water and he didn't find the dog which was looking at him . So, the dog's hindrance from drinking water was himself, and when he overlooked & ignored himself he drank from the water. So, I learned this lesson from the dog that the hindrance which estops me from the truth is myself so I left its desires (self's desires). (2) The anonymous elephant A doctor got Three blind men and took them to an elephant to make them identify elephant's body attributes, and they have never seen an elephant before nor touched it. So, when they stood near it and touched it they said: now we know the elephant. And when they returned to the rest of the blind men, they asked them: how the elephant is? They replied with different answers. The one who touched elephant's leg said: it is like a soft cylinder. The one who touched its ivory said: it is like a hard polished column. The one who touched its ear said: he is very soft and its body is flat, it isn't like a column or a cylinder, it is like a thick piece of skin. Actually each one of them was describing what he touched and they were right in what they said but they mentioned different descriptions for the elephant that because they didn't surrounded by all elephant's body. So, the most differences between people in their opinion is a result of the lack of their knowledge about something , that's why we can see people who describe one same person with different attributes. Who saw that person was worshipping God he describes him as a religious man, who saw him in an anger state describes him as a nervous man, who saw him in a weak state describes him as a merciful man, nobody of them can give a true and perfect description about him. (3) The sheep's test Two men wanted to know what is the most important. The health or the security? They got two sheep, one of them was sick and the other one was healthy, and they put each one in a particular different place and put fodder in front of them, but they put in front of the healthy sheep a tied wolf and they left them in this state. In the next day they returned to the sheep to see the results, the sick sheep ate a little bit but the healthy one didn't eat anything at all, because he was afraid of the tied wolf which was in front of him. (4) The bird's testimony A personage man was invited to have his lunch with a prince, on the dining table there were two roasted birds and when the personage man saw them he laughed, the prince asked him about the reason of his laughing? He said: one day when I was young I stopped a dealer in the way to steal his money, and when I wanted to kill him, he begged me and cried of no use that because I insisted on killing him, when he felt and knew my insisting he looked around him and didn't find anything except two birds, then he said: O two birds satisfy that this man killed me. So, I remembered that dealer when I saw these two roasted birds on the dining table and laughed at the ignorance and stupidity of that dealer. The prince stated: these two birds bore witness, then the prince ordered to kill that personage. (5) The mother of the kittens Anna Nelson said: one day I saw a cat behind my house door and she was miaowing without stop, I tried to get her into the house but she didn't want to. I got for her some milk but she didn't drink a blob! She was miaowing and begging by her gazes and calling me to follow her, so I followed her, she took me to an old store and there was some of husks. I saw four small kittens on the husks and in this time the cat calmed down and her silence was strange to me! In the next day I went to see the kittens, they were so hungry that because there wasn't any blob of milk in their mother's breast which were dead near the kittens, then I knew that their mother predicted her death and wanted in the last hours in her life to find a protector for her child. (6) The donkey's understanding Dr Fandeck once was invited by someone, the host put many kind of food on the dining table and asked him insistently to eat from the viands, the Dr ate more than he needs, after an hour he felt pain in his stomach, the host ordered to get the Dr's donkey, he rode it and was going home. In his way he reached a river, he got off his donkey to water him, when the donkey quenched his thirst; the Dr was repeating to him what the host was saying to him: why you aren't drinking? Drink more, come on..) but the donkey didn't care and he didn't drink any other blob of water! When the Dr saw the donkey's insisting on not drinking he said to him: O donkey I am the donkey and Fandeck is you, you are a donkey but you know that much is much , I am a Dr but I didn't know that so it happened to me what had happened ( the stomach's pain) YoursSincerely, CatStevens
